Historia
Molly Gray is not like everyone else. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. Her gran used to interpret the world for her, codifying it into simple rules that Molly could live by. Since Gran died a few months ago, twenty-five-year-old Molly has been navigating life’s complexities all by herself. No matter—she throws herself with gusto into her work as a hotel maid. Her unique character, along with her obsessive love of cleaning and proper etiquette, make her an ideal fit for the job.

What a delightful book.
Revisado: 08-05-22
The book is funny at times, painful at times, and just full of wisdom, and to boot, it's a good murder mystery! Lauren Ambrose did a terrific job as narrator.

I can't believe it was 23 hours long.
Revisado: 06-29-18
I loved this book. After downloading it and realizing how long is was, I was worried that it would be ponderous. But no -- it just whizzed along and I was sorry as it came to a close. Elizabeth George's characters are wonderfully colorful and the story kept me in the "and then what happened?" mode from beginning to end. Simon Vance's narration was terrific. It was hard to believe that it was only one person voicing all of those characters.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I really enjoyed both the story and especially the characters.
Which character – as performed by Juanita McMahon – was your favorite?
Definitely Detective Manon Bradshaw. Hopefully there are more books with the young detective as the central character.

Historia
A lot can happen in one hundred years, as Jane Smiley shows to dazzling effect in her Last Hundred Years trilogy. But as Golden Age, its final installment, opens in 1987, the next generation of Langdons face economic, social, political—and personal—challenges unlike anything their ancestors have encountered before.

Little hard to follow all the characters.

Where does Golden Age rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I would rank it near the middle 50%. Perhaps if I had listened to the earlier works, it would have been easier to follow.
Would you recommend Golden Age to your friends? Why or why not?
I would recommend reading the book, rather than just listening to it. There are so many characters, I needed to draw up my own family chart.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, this is a really long saga. I listened to it over about 10 days.
