Historia
On the fringes of the Cicatrix Maledictum, the Black Templars of the Second Dorean Crusade tear through the void to join the crusade fleet on the sands of Tempest – an ancient, storied shrine world. Assailed by the murderous warbands of the Blood God, the crusade has come to burn the planet clean of the Ruinous Powers once and for all. But when a violent warp storm scatters the fleet, the Dauntless Honour is left battered and alone in the void. Besieged by doubt, Castellan Emeric and his brothers must cling to their faith and carve a way to Tempest.

Properly grim and dark
Revisado: 12-03-24
Extremely good vocal performance here and overall a really good 40k book in my opinion, paints the Templars as they really should be painted more often.

Very solid book to kick off the 10th Edition for 40k. There are questions answered and questions newly made from this book. Very much hope that Black Library and Games Workshop are developing a 'Dark Imperium' or 'Dawn of Fire' series for the Lion and his exploits in Imperium Nihilus.

Historia
When the perfidious t’au bring down a valkyrie containing an Astra Militarum general on the besieged Imperial world of Dasht i-Kevar, all could be lost—what the general knows could break the war effort, and see the planet fall under the control of the vile xenos. Only the Kasrkin stand a chance at bringing him back. They are the elite of the elite, but the enemy that Captain Bharath Obeysekera and his squad are called upon to fight is unlike any they have faced before—the desert itself, endless and implacable

Set in a desert and about as dry and boring as one
Revisado: 11-01-22
In a book about Kasrkin I find it really disappointing when they're by far the least interesting part of this novel. If you, like myself, bought this expecting some cool Kasrkin action and a look into their spec ops type work. You will be massively let down.
It's just very predictable all the way through.
Imperial General lost in the desert who may or may not be Tau turncoat? Well I'll be it turns out he was a Tau turncoat who's mad the Imperium is a meat grinder and has no regard for human life!
Massive mountain anomaly in the middle desert that the locals shun and makes all electronics go whacky? What a shock to learn it's a Necron Tomb with Flayers on it's surface!
Out of all the characters in this novel the only one I genuinely liked and wanted more of was the insane Necron Lord who plays with sand and mistakes the Kasrkin and their allies by necessity Kroot for long lost Necrontyr scouts. He's a nice guy overall.
Really without rambling on for paragraphs at a time which I'm sure nobody wants to read this book is summarized as: Long monologues or dialogues which go nowhere and don't really do anything to develop characters, action sequences which become incredibly repetitive, plotlines which are so predictable it's almost laughable and sand, man does this novel talk about sand a lot.
It has *some* cool and interesting aspects but nothing near enough to justify a full read/listen of it.
The narration performance was what made listening to this even close to tolerable, so props to the narrator for that.

Historia
As the Great Crusade enters its sixth decade, the fleets and armies of the Emperor spear out into the galaxy to bring the Imperial Truth to thousands of worlds. Expansion has been swift, but must now be tempered with consolidation. Even so, the Emperor demands that the boundaries of the Imperium be pushed further into the unknown. The Master of Mankind tasks four primarchs with the dangerous mission of securing the worlds of the Occluda Noctis—hundreds of star systems on the far side of the Northern Major Warp Storm.

A perfect summary of Dorn and his Legion
Revisado: 10-19-22
If you or someone you know want a clear and fairly straightforward presentation of who Dorn is and what he's all about then this book is perfect. If you already know a lot about Dorn then this novel is likely not going to reveal much new, but that's the thing I've always liked about Dorn.
He is what he is, no deep twisted ulterior motives, no tragic and scarred history to brood over. He is what His Emperor made him to be and this novel shows exactly why he is Praetorian of Terra and no other Primarch could replace him in that role. The Emperor favors him because Dorn not only does the Emperor's will to the letter, but also the punctuation, the type face and font size.
Where another Primarch might improvise or interpret a command in another manner. Dorn does not and will not compromise the Emperor's Will and Intent. And this novel demonstrates that very well.

Historia
The galaxy is in flames. Chaos is in the ascendant across the stars. The Great Rift has split the holdings of the Imperium in twain, isolating entire sectors from the light of Holy Terra. But all hope is not lost. The Primarch Roboute Guilliman has returned from deathless sleep and appointed Commander Dante, lord of the Blood Angels, as Regent and Warden of the newly dubbed Imperium Nihilus. In the Baal system, the shattered holding of the Chapter is being rebuilt, and Dante plans the greatest campaign of his long life, to retake half an empire.

Solid Entry into the happenings of Nihilus
Revisado: 02-19-21
Overall pretty good look at the situation on the other side of the great rift. Dante and Mephiston are always interesting characters to follow. Didn't care much for the resolution to the Admiral's PTSD subplot but the rest of the book gives a prime look at the first Blood Angel to cross from Astartes to Primaris and sets the scene for what's happening across Imperium Nihilus and how Dante and friends are handling things.
