Historia
From the author of When We Lost Our Heads, a spellbinding story about two gifted orphans - in love with each other since they can remember - whose childhood talents allow them to rewrite their future. The Lonely Hearts Hotel is a love story with the power of legend. An unparalleled tale of charismatic pianos, invisible dance partners, radicalized chorus girls, drug-addicted musicians, brooding clowns, and an underworld whose economy hinges on the price of a kiss. In a landscape like this, it takes great creative gifts to thwart one’s origins.

Too much sexualization of children
Revisado: 07-06-24
I could t get past the first few chapters of this book. Just too much sexualization of children and sexual escapades involving children.
This had the potential of being a really good book. She’s a good writer. I just couldn’t abide the content.

Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Can Not Get Through This
Revisado: 04-05-23
I have listened to a few hours of this book and can not get into it. I wanted to like it, but I didn't. The thought of listening to 21 more hours of this is horrifying. This was for someone else.

Historia
It's been almost a year since Cyrus and Antigone Smith earned their places as Journeymen at Ashtown, home of an ancient order of explorers that has long guarded the world's secrets and treasures. While their studies go well, Cy and Tigs are not well liked since losing the Dragon's Tooth to the nefarious Dr. Phoenix. The Tooth is the only object in the world capable of killing the long-lived transmortals, and Phoenix has been tracking them down one-by-one, and murdering them.

If I Still Had JR High Kids…
Revisado: 07-16-22
I would encourage them to read these books. High language, adventure, real life dilemmas, imperfect characters, with a hefty dose of imagination. This is an awesome series. Grandma of 10 kiddos is moving on to the next book in the series.

Historia
Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.
Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands.

Ridiculously Entertaining Listen!
Revisado: 04-24-18
Would you listen to Where'd You Go, Bernadette again? Why?
I will listen to this again! We performed with realistic characters made more so by the reader. This was so well done, that it was like watching it on television!
What other book might you compare Where'd You Go, Bernadette to and why?
I have no other book to compare it to. It's one-of-a-kind!
What does Kathleen Wilhoite bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She has a 15-year-old voice that sounded just like the character should have. Not overdone...just right!
If you could rename Where'd You Go, Bernadette, what would you call it?
Perfect title-why change it?
Any additional comments?
I loved the characters in this book and I think it had a lot to do with the way they had real-life interactions with each through their e-mail correspondence. I thought it was going to be a silly read and it was far from that. If anything, the front dust cover didn't represent it well at all. Great book!
