Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Great story. Astrophage is/are? a wonderful idea. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I laughed and I was sad. I shared emotions with Grace and that is important to me. Being attached to the story in such a way. And the end was bittersweet and in my honest opinion the perfect way to end this story. And that is becoming hard to find. Fantastic job Andy Weir, you have another well deserved follower:)

The person that narrated has a cadence that I cannot get used too.

Not a terrible story. Just not very exciting. Predictable and lackluster. I’m sure the writer will improve over the years.

This is my second time thru the Dresden Files. I read the books thru Kindle. I am so glad I’m listening thru Audible because James Marsters is Harry Dresdens voice. The way I imagine it anyway. Fantastic job. Great story. My only peeve is how Dresden gets weak so quick. Make stronger potions man!

Historia
Few know the warship’s actual name. But everyone has heard the rumors. The PUV James Keeling can do something no other vessel in existence can do—slip into another dimension, travel undetected, then re-emerge onto our plane and surprise enemy targets. But the thing that makes the Crypt unique also makes it a nightmare for those onboard; interdimensional travel causes hallucinations, violent behavior, and psychotic breakdowns. Keeling could be the Union’s greatest weapon, a game-changing asset that can defeat the bloodthirsty zealots of the Purist Nation, the Union’s mortal enemy.

Good story great sci-fi. I liked main characters, they were well-developed. The ship develop the chrysalis after it went to war. My prediction is that it’s going to be battle ready ie Guns Guns Guns, when it comes out of the chrysalis! This is my first book by this author. I’m looking forward to more. I finished this audiobook four days ago. Now I’ll wait, patiently for more from the Crypt

Sadly disappointed
Revisado: 09-11-23
Boring! Reading an HVAC repair manual type of boring. The main characters actions are narrated in a mostly monotone voice 98% of the time. Zach needs a companion to talk to so we get dialogue! He thought to himself…or Zach paused and thought out loud… Zach looked at (companionname) and uttered…etc. Something. Anything that would make this a better listen. I drive an 18 wheel tractor trailer. Listening to this story for the 49 chapters was a task! No pleasure in it. I want my credit back!

Redundant storytelling.
Revisado: 01-17-23
Im convinced Mr. Lumley is paid by the word!
I read this series when it first came out. When I saw it on Audible, I immediately bought it, ready to enjoy it. I did enjoy it for the most part but, man, this guy can over explain any situation, easily! As I remembered skipping pages during the reads so long ago, I also skipped intervals during Audible.
My chief complaint is this: The action sequences are a few pages long while the build-up is chapter after chapter after chapter of mostly forgettable and useless information. I was satisfied with the narration though.

Revisado: 01-01-23
Wonderful story. Well put together. Mr. Cline has my rapt attention. I loved the references to the 80s movies, music etc. I was a teen then and the abundance of references were wonderful as they brought back so many memories of my past. As an aside, I often had to rewind parts I had missed due to the musings of my youth distracting me, lol.
Wil Wheaton is a wonderful narrator. I thoroughly enjoyed his narrative. His cadence was on point.
I look forward to Mr Wheaton narrating more stories. He has my vote!
Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Historia
In a world devastated by nuclear war with humanity on the edge of extinction, aliens finally make contact. They rescue those humans they can, keeping most survivors in suspended animation while the aliens begin the slow process of rehabilitating the planet. When Lilith Iyapo is "awakened", she finds that she has been chosen to revive her fellow humans in small groups by first preparing them to meet the utterly terrifying aliens, then training them to survive on the wilderness that the planet has become. But the aliens cannot help humanity without altering it forever.

boring, repetitive tropes, frustrating
Revisado: 12-11-22
I was bored while reading this story. The main character complained constantly about the aliens and their offer while accepting what they gave her and using her gifts while complaining.
I began to get frustrated to the point where I stopped listening and when I started back up I was forced to skip over many sections.
The narrator's voice is very monotone for most of the story. I would become uninterested in the story because of that.

Over descriptive
Revisado: 11-23-20
Wow. Does an author get paid by the word. You'd
think that were the case with this novel. I had forgotten why I stopped reading Koontz back in the nineties. This overblown tome is an appropriate reminder of that. I was continually hopeful that I would be entertained only to be let down repeatedly. Bad just bad.
