Listen to this book because Rosalyn Landor is such a pro and always does a great job, This would be mind numbingly boring if it were not for the narrator. There's slow burn and then there is glacial pace. I'm completely fine with laying track, plotting out a story but this is ridiculous. It isn't funny, it isn't sexy and the spice is non existent. Davina the female character is entitled, stupid and not very interesting. She spends the whole book berating the hero to relinquish his a portion of his land and an estate. She believes without any evidence 100 years prior the land belonged to her Scottish great grandfather. What's is it going to take to for one of these brilliant women writers to write a female a heroine who is not self rightious and entitled weirdo.

I’m Not normally a fan on paranormal romance but I really loved this one. The narrators are really good. I just wish that the audiobook was a duet. Although Lola James does a very good job playing most of the parts both male and female, I would have loved to hear more of Aiden Snow’s sexy voice. The world building, werewolf lore and character development are excellent.
The book is a bit of a slow burn and the spice level is moderate and a bit slow in coming.

A Bride for the Prizefighter could be read as a stand alone book. It is the first book of the Victorian Prizefighters series. This one takes place in the gorgeous village of Cornwall that's surrounded by massive cliffs and ocean. There is also a cool adventure/mystery element in this book. Alice Coldbreath is a very good writer who writes pragmatic, honest heroines who are capable, (not whiny bitc**s,) while still being wildly interesting. Her heroes tend toward the hot, grumpy, taciturn and possessive types. This book shows how a marriage of convenience can evolve into a deep, satisfying relationship. Will and Mina (Minerva) have a marriage of convenience, but they act like grownups. Even though they're often at odds because they're from very different worlds. But they don't storm off like immature teenagers, they try to talk things out. Mina is educated, capable, refined but not wealthy. She starts out naive and a bit stuffy, but unlike many Victorian heroines she grows and changes as a character. The story has plenty of spice and a satisfying ending.

A Substitute Wife for the Prizefighter could be read as a stand alone book even though it is The second book in the Victorian Prizefighters series. Alice Coldbreath is a pretty good writer and the story has a satisfying ending and a plot that makes sense. Lizzie and Benedict are interesting and believable characters. Lizzie the FC is not highborn, but a ward of a highborn family. She is ousted because she has a moral compass and she's honest, which gets her in trouble. She starts out naive and a bit stodgy, but unlike many Victorian heroines she grows and changes as a character. Her love interest Benedict is a hot
prizefighter, an Alpha who can be unintentionally funny, a bit prickly but ultimately delicious. The storyline involves the main characters as the join an itinerant family of boxers who are part of a traveling country fair. The Boxing tent is the big draw, but you also get to meet some of the women who are involved in the fair, Salome the exotic dancer of the seven veils, the Giant lady, the fortune teller.. etc. Although the relationship between Lizzie and Benedict start out as a marriage of convenience, their families, the traveling fair weird setting and the social mores The plot is good and surprising. is very interesting. This is the second n the Victorian book. There is some spice, but it is not constant, instead it services works with the narrative. If you're looking for a book that's 24/7 l sex with the sliver of a story attached. This may not be it.

CRINGE-Crazy heroine & Male Narrator only at end

Confused by the five star ratings because...
I feel like someone aggressively TALKED AT me for hours.
The heroine is bat s**t crazy and/or psychotic - Heroine says and does things that are wildly inappropriate AND she never, ever stops talking like EVER... Blah blah blah blah nonsense
The heroine is weird, crass and utterly classless. Bad language and lots of cursing but not for emphasis or humor. I guess the author ran out of words .....
The story is completely preposterous
What happened to Aaron Shedlock??? Male Narrator only at the end of story
The female narrator drones on and on and on and on
This book is not funny - bad crass jokes
This isn’t funny at all. It is totally sad and cringe, Does anyone, as in the writer and/or an editor ever read this stuf.
I will never get these hours back

Thank God for Aiden Snow-Female Narrator ruins it

Aiden Snow carries this audiobook. His voice is deep and sexy and he knows how to pronounce words properly. The female narrator is terrible. She constantly mispronounces words like decor as "dee-core," which makes her sound like a bumpkin. What's with the billionaire fantasy trope. As we know, most, if not all billionaires are selfish jerks who look like trolls. They're definitely NOT HOT. Think Bezos, Gates and Musk. In the best case scenario they're nerdy, in most cases, they're just plain old unattractive.
This audiobook could have been so much more because there are elements of the story that are engaging if somewhat predictable and unrealistic. The author uses a ton of romance tropes. Her writing is sloppy and she has story threads that are mentioned and dropped. Like the estrangement between Ashley and her relatives whom we meet at a memorial service. Ash(ley), the heroine is dull as dishwater and has a snippy personality, yet she somehow manages to attract Jake, the hot, brilliant cardio thorasic surgeon and notorious womanizer. He falls instantly, madly in love with her with her dullness and bad temper and that proceeds to have sex like horny minks. The B story is more interesting. It has to do with the media frenzy surrounding Jake, an false accusation of pregnancy and Jake's relationship between his brother Jim, his best friend Colin and a few other male characters and the friendship among the them is very well developed. This is OK for a mindless afternoon listen.

NO!! FMC & Female narrator is AWFUL

Aiden Snow, rocks the narration as usual but this is a very frustrating audiobook. Much of it has to do with Sarah Puckett's droning, non emotive narration which sounds like a Valley Girl reading her homework. The other reason is that Avery, the female heroine with whom we're supposed to sympathize, is very poorly written. And since Avery is so underdeveloped the love story between her and Jim Mitchell (the Mr.Mitchell of the title) makes zero sense. Jim is a catch. He's sophisticated, kind, brilliant and wealthy and he would never, ever be interested in Avery, who is HOT MESS. Avery just can't get out of her own way. She's unbearably stupid, self righteous and classless. Not worth the credit

STORY: Dom is the third book of the Alliance series. It is the "love" story of Dom and Valentine (Val), King's (MMC of book 2) illegitimate half sister. The MMC, Dom, made Nero of book 1 and King of book 2 look like charm school graduates. Dom is a stone cold killer who is also a Yale Graduate. He's irrational, funny and an insanely jealous Alpha who is CRAZY enough to burn down the world for his woman Val. But he also does some so much shady shot to Val, which had me screaming. Dom is a an manipulative asshole who does not know the meaning of CONSENT. Dom roofied Val & married her in Vegas when she could barely stand let alone consent so that he can join The Alliance the Mafia family run by her half-brother King and his buddy Nero. He also swapped out her her birth control pills with placebos so that he can knock her up and control her which is JUST WRONG! This behavior is controlling not romantic, Val the FMC, was love starved, wallowed in self pity and cried constantly. Like ALL THE F***ING TIME!!! In the End Val accepted and fell in love with her manipulative husband because she had a shitty childhood, was abandoned and made to feel like a second class citizen her whole life. She kind of developed somewhat of a backbone at the end of the book, but she cried during those chapters too. This was a good story that was suspenseful to the end.

THE NARRATORS: These are the exact same narrators who did NERO and KING (books 1 & 2) so if you thought the male narrator was bad here, you probably think the same of those books. My problem with Jack Calihan, the male narrator has a limited range and sounds like Mrs. Doubtfire then he reads the female lines. Chloe Ryan rocks it from beginning to end. I liked the story so I'm excited to listen to HANS the next book.

Skip it. Unless you like constant bickering - Being with SLOANE AND LUCIEN is like attending a 10 hour excruciating family dinner with two people engaged in a years long toxic relationship. Not funny, no witty banter. Lila Winters, the female narrator is not a good enough actress to overcome the repetitive bad writing. Her version of the main male character is tragic and Sloan the main female character just sounds crazy. There's no subtlety or nuance. Don't waste your credit. The only good thing about this book is Sebastian York, the male narrator. He's always good.
