I loved this book, although difficult to digest. Difficult because I was unprepared to come into such brutal truth. This audible journey provided a revelation and understanding of American history that I have not before comprehended. I really liked this book. The narration by Ron Butler was excellent. There is so much valuable information to enlighten the reader with details not only about these historic events, but how they impacted the lives of both slaves and southern owners. It was stunning to realize the depth and breath of devastation resultant from man's in humanity to man!

Yet his spirit and desire to be the change we need forced him to continue the good fight in spite of staggering odds. Because of Elijah's perseverance we are better and have the potential to be "Better Than This!"
