Historia
The first attempt to travel at the speed of light has been successful. Transported thousands of miles in seconds, two young astronauts, Rose and Alex, are on their way to explore Proxima b, a candidate terrestrial planet in the Alpha Centauri System 4.2 light years from Earth. Burning through space faster than any humans in history, they realize the launch into light speed created black holes in their memory, and that all their most recent experiences have vanished without a trace.

Romance and Quantum Physics
Revisado: 12-05-21
I've always wanted to know more about, and better understand, Quantum Physics, and this gripping listen was just the ticket. For me, there wasn't a dull second aboard the Light Ship. Afterward, I did some fact checking, and as far as I can tell, the science in the story is real and current. Physics and metaphysics dance effortlessly together in this beautifully written and narrated Novella. I only wish the journey had been longer, but the ending seems to promise more to come. I hope so!

Immersive and deeply moving
Revisado: 10-10-21
A beautiful journey through time, space, hopes and dreams that gently gripped me from the beginning and never let go. I couldn't stop listening. I appreciated the narrator's more thoughtful pace which made it possible to absorb the often profoundly beautiful prose. The horror of war vs. the mysterious beauty of the human soul makes the reality of good and evil achingly palpable. Yet in the end it is Love that survives and can dream of living forever. I cried a lot, but I loved it.

I wanted to love it...
Revisado: 07-17-19
I read this book after seeing the movie, which was, IMO, a much more gripping experience, if also far from perfect. I did enjoy the love story in the book, and the author's reverent and meticulous attention to detail, as well as the fleshing out of emotions absent from cinema. I might have given it an overall of 4 stars if the climax near the end had not felt so flat, or abrupt, or both. It's worth a listen, because the story is, in and of itself, so compelling... so everything!

Historia
I'm 18 years old, and for as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated by ancient Egypt. I'm staying with my best friend, Carol, who's working as a photographer in an Old Kingdom burial ground, where her Egyptologist boss is on the trail of a major discovery. But someone much more powerful than the antiquities department seems to have gotten wind of it, and for some mysterious reason, he is also intensely interested in me and the dreams I have begun having.

For Christians and anyone of good will
Revisado: 07-17-19
I listened to all three books and could not find any foul language or spirit guides anywhere, only Angels of God. As for New Age ideas, they only feature in the story as Mary begins outgrowing them and, toward the end, very astutely bashing them. Yes, Mary is 18 and drinks red wine with dinner, like millions of European teens and even American ones. Finally, this being a book written for adults not children, there are a handful of tastefully sensual scenes that only go so far.
Mary's story is immensely entertaining as well as educational. Modern Egypt figures even more prominently than ancient Egypt through the protagonists' interactions and friendship with Coptic Christians. This is both a Coming of Age and a Discovering of the Faith story, because the man that lived 2,000 years ago and who Mary falls in love with is NOT Imhotep. Mary's physical adventures and her inner growth and challenges reflect each other in an exciting yet also very true to life story. I can believe it is based on the author's actual experiences. This trilogy is both profound and fun and (like the Nile once flooded every year) overflows with love for God.

Highly Entertaining
Revisado: 07-12-19
Although the Muirwood books remain my favorites by this prolific author, the opening book of this series is irresistible, perhaps because the main characters are two children, which makes the experience even more enchanting, as the wonder of discovering the world and the mysteries of life bleed into the plot itself. The characters practically breathe. I loved the book so much, I devoured the rest of the series. However, this first installment remains dearer to me than all the rest.
Kate Rudd is superlative. She is one of the few narrators I have heard who can do appealing male voices, which makes the experience all the more enjoyable.

The ultimate love story
Revisado: 07-12-19
This breathtakingly unique novel swept me away on a series of emotional roller coasters that made it hard to take my headphones off. From the first sentence, the story pulled me in and kept me guessing because the experience was so vivid. The quality of the descriptive writing is sometimes breathtaking, without being overly wordy. On the contrary, it is sometimes cinematic. I often found myself able to picture the scene as clearly as if I was watching a movie, but better, because I was completely immersed in it.
I will remain cryptic about the plot because if I really get into it, I risk spoiling the enthralling nature of the journey. And thanks to the mysteriously powerful Artificial Intelligence at the heart of the book, there's even a trip to Regency England thrown in! This is truly a Romance like no other.

An Extraordinary Experience
Revisado: 05-12-19
I first read this trilogy 30 years ago. And now thanks to the new Audible Audio edition, I spent weeks, months, in heaven
immersed in this masterpiece and living an alternate life in 14th century Norway. I LIVED these books. Sigrid Undset didn't win the Noble Prize for Literature in 1928 for nothing. These books feel like real life to me. Human nature never changes. And the narrator was SUPERLATIVE. I hope "The Axe" trilogy will soon also be available from Audible.
