The kingdom of Mercia has been at war with the Shadow King and his dark army for ten years. To escape the seer’s vision of her capture, Mercia’s heir to the throne, Princess Norah Andell, is secreted away by her father to keep her safe. But when he dies in battle, so too dies the knowledge of where she’s hidden. She’s lost to the world—until three years later, when she’s found with no memory of who she is or the kingdom that now rests on her shoulders.

Quite a Start
Revisado: 04-26-25
I really enjoyed this. It felt like a coming of age tale. We start with characters as they are, they are a bit childish but we at least watch the FMC grow and begin to show more depth. It is a rare romantasy where the FMC shows any kind of growth and has no self pity, her actions are true to the author's depiction and she does not self sabotage which is so refreshing. It is a delight. Even the quasi triangle isn't one, just a girl holding on to a childish crush.
I am holding a star because the amnesia is pretty much brushed to the side by every character. Nobody asks why or attempts to even remotely figure it out. I am sure it will be addressed and I will keep reading but it's a pretty BFD that everyone accepts without question. It's a little baffling how little no one cares and just goes on with life. It's a gaping plot hole that doesn't seem to matter.

You Want To Read This
Revisado: 04-21-25
People made a lot of comparisons to describe this, but none of them fit. This made me feel full body emotions. This was stunning.
I love the FMC, she is sweet and so vicious. The MMC is vicious but is unflaggingly loyal. The two of them are quick with the blades and banter, but the emotions between them cut deep.
This is one of my top reads of 2025.

I Finished It
Revisado: 04-11-25
Repetitive and meandering. So much filler space. Leaning heavily on lack of communication and wildly inconsistent characterization to drive the plot. It could have been cut at least in half and made the first book longer.

Masterful Story
Revisado: 03-22-25
Clare Sager is a WRITER. The weaves together emotions and little elements of pacing to pull together a tale to get lost in.
The only thing about this audio book is the male narrator is a travesty. His monotone makes dialogue impossible to follow on normal speed. It makes the stunning writing and emotion dull and flat. Pro tip: ff the male narrator to 1.5 it's really the only way to get a proper effect (I listen to the story at 1.0).
I am off to go buy the ebook because this story has me by the heart and I have to know what happens next.

I Needed This
Revisado: 03-20-25
Reading so many Tik Tok romantasy recs has lowered my bar, I had forgotten good stories. This one was amazing. It was magical and sexy and intrigue and complex emotions.
This was a STORY, it wasn't just some moody FMC and random occurrence propelling a narrative, this was a story to get lost in. It was heart breaking and empowering and beautiful. The characters are developed and their relationships are grown up (I can't stand the 'oh we're best friends now' 'oh we're totally in love now' trope).
Clare Sager can write and I look forward to seeing the pain and agony and absolute tiny shard of hope to cling to that she gives me next.

Meh
Revisado: 03-18-25
I got whiplash from the extreme, for absolutely no reason than lazy attempts to move the plot forward, 'I want him'/''I hate him'/'why doesn't he love my bratty behavior that I had to DNF.
I am bored by incredibly fickle and impractical FMCs that put thoughtlessly themselves in no win danger because the author needs the next scene to happen.

With the clock ticking, he must turn to the only one who might uncover the truth: a journalist he has spent a decade avoiding…

A Rushed Job
Revisado: 03-07-25
Throne of the Fallen was a masterpiece. This book was a hastily thrown together mess. The FMC has no personality besides revenge and obligation, of which we are told not shown. The MMC seems to have seven different personalities to fit a scene and not make him a character.
I loved Envy and Camilla. Greed and Adrianna don't give any reason to care about them. This is just a pale rehash of the first book.
I got bored and DNF. It was so repetitive and all internal monologues.

Sinner. Villain. Ruthless. These are wicked names the Prince of Envy welcomes. They remind him what he isn’t: a saint. And when a cryptic note arrives, signaling the beginning of a deadly game, he knows he’ll be called much worse before it ends. Riddles, hexed objects, anonymous players, nothing will stand in his way. With a powerful artifact and his own future at stake, Envy is determined to win, though none of his meticulous plans prepare him for her, the frustrating artist who ignites his sin—and passion—like no other.

I am not a Brigerton girl. I have this a shot because the premise seemed interesting and I am just reading everything these days.
It took me a couple chapters to get into it but once I did I was IN. I love Camilla (mad props for being over 20) and the seven brothers. I can't wait for all their stories.

Historia
After watching my mother succumb to a mysterious illness, I promised myself two things. I'd find the cure for what ravaged her and leave the godforsaken city where she abandoned me. Four years later, I received an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before, those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores. And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity.

This Is The Third Kind
Revisado: 02-12-25
Some books you read are fun but they leave your head when done.
Some books you get emotionally invested in.
Then there are some books that you think about for awhile and then pop into your head for years.
This is the third kind.
This is my first Keri Lake book and I am now a die hard fan and will read everything she has written and will write. She is a master.
The narrators are perfection.
Nothing but pure adoration.
