Peter Kenny, narrator, is amazing!

Peter Kenny, narrator, is amazing!I often forgot that just one person was narrating. Although at times I was confused as to who was speaking, especially at the beginning of the book, as the narration proceeded it got better and better. Very satisfying.

I loved this book! The writing style, the story, the history, the symbolism, and the social and political significance all resonated with me.
Most of all, the narrator was amazing! Her voices and accents were consistent and authentic. Her performance was one of the best I’ve listened to, and I’ve listened to hundreds of audiobooks. Brava!

Terrible narrator!
Revisado: 11-21-21
I can’t really address the story because I was too distracted by the awful narrator to really make sense of it. The narrator used the same inflection in nearly every sentence and often paused as if there were a comma or period where there was none, which sometimes changed the meaning of the sentence. The mental gymnastics required to decode these lapses interrupted the flow of the story, causing me to miss some of the content as I wrestled with the garbled sentences.
She did a similarly terrible job using different voices for the characters. Several times, she even used a low pitch for the main character (a woman), which necessitated more mental gymnastics.
All of that strenuous exercise while listening to such an airy, droll mystery was so exhausting that I just couldn’t finish the book, which is a rarity for me. I guess I’ll have to find it in the library or on Kindle so I can read it in peace.

“Heads Will Roll” was surprisingly funny! The writing was wonderful, the performances were awesome, and what a cast! I’m gonna have to listen to it again to listen for specific actors.

Cool story, weak narrator
Revisado: 04-08-18
This story was really cool, using historical characters and events in a creative way. However, the narrator left a lot to be desired. I still haven't decided whether his native accent is Irish or American. I can say that neither was consistent. His New York accent sounded Australian. Truly terrible. Very distracting. Significantly detracted from the story.

Narrator not the best.
Revisado: 04-07-18
This book was much more engaging than I expected it to be, but the narrator left quite a bit to be desired. He mispronounced a lot of words and his foreign accents (Israeli/Hebrew, Russian) were truly terrible, not to mention inconsistent.

Good story, bad narrator
Revisado: 06-20-17
Once this story got going, I was riveted. The plot was really cool and inventive. The author created a truly scary dystopian England set in the not-so-distant future. The characters were well-drawn enough that I came to really care about them.
Hated the narrator, though. He didn't seem to be paying attention to what he was reading, using incorrect inflections that changed the meaning of words and phrases and mispronouncing words repeatedly. The voices he used didn't match the characters or the descriptors used in sentences. For example, he might use a whiny tone when the sentence said the character bellowed. So annoying!
Nevertheless, I think I'll have to get the next book in the series to find out what happens next. If, however, they didn't hire a different narrator I believe I'll read the book myself.

Italian pronounced incorrectly!
Revisado: 05-29-17
The story was intriguing, but the narrator mispronounced many of the Italian words. He should have done his homework before recording this book. Also, most of his female voices sounded the same. Annoying and confusing.
