Historia
Earth has fallen under the influence of the Fermion Party, whose members believe humanity’s future lies in the metaverse, a simulated environment to which people can upload their consciousness to become immortal. As a simulant, one cannot get sick, grow old, or die. Human beings have no business risking their lives in the betaverse, where injury and illness can kill them. And those who wish to explore beyond the solar system blaspheme what the Fermions believe is the natural order.

Bobiverse, but Worse-iverse
Revisado: 04-03-25
On the plus side, the writing's fine, at least grammatically (sadly, that is something that warrants special recognition now). The author also doesn't cheap out and gets a pro to do the voice work. That's where the good ends, though. The plot is like a 12 year old plagarized the Bobiverse series.

Poorly written, implausible characters, juvenile plot, mediocre narration. This series has it all. Not bad for free, but I wouldn't waste any credits on it.

I don't give away 5 star ratings, but this earned it. One of my favorite authors (Bobiverse), read by one of my favorite narrators (The Good Guys/The Bad Guys); what's not to like?

This would probably be fine for a middle school guy. Hey, not judging; I was a middle school guy. The plot and the characters are juvenile and shallow. I do appreciate the multi-performer production, though.

Two Stars may be Too High
Revisado: 05-02-22
I bought like 5 books in this series when they were on sale for 85% off. Hard to lose at that price, right?
Wrong. I can't believe that it's rated as highly as it is. I've been trying very hard to get through the installments, but I'm getting close to pulling the plug. The main problem is that virtually all the characters are asses. Even the narrator sounds like an ass. At this point, I am forced to conclude that the author is a complete tool and that he just thinks that this is how people talk and act. The poor wanker.
It's too bad, because there is a story here.

Overrated
Revisado: 04-19-22
Bought like 5 books of this series during a recent 85% off sale, and after listening to about 45 minutes of the first installment, I'm still considering returning it. The MC sounds like a complete tool. And (fair enough) the narrator sounds like a tool as well. Don't know what the other reviewers were hearing. Well, maybe it will grow on me. Maybe.

Historia
Straight out of the West (or, you know, somewhere through a gloom portal), in a thunder of hooves (but they're kinda like giant turtle hooves, if you can picture it?), comes Montana Coggeshall, gun (sword) slinger. Sure, he's survived Fiends' Night and an all-out goblin war. But for his people in Coggeshall to truly be safe, Montana needs to go out and find the source of all these crazy attacks.

A Little Thin
Revisado: 02-19-22
I'm a fan of Mr. Ugland's work and this series in particular. My only general complaint is that his books tend to be on the short side, almost novellas. Often, authors take this approach because they really don't have much creativity in the tank and get tapped out pretty quickly. I think with Eric Ugland, it's just a cash flow decision; time to hit the cash register. Cha-ching! And fair enough. As long as his novels are at least 10 hours long in audio format; I'm good (I will say that I'm skipping the next installment of his "Good Guys" series, however, as it will weigh in at a little over 8 hours).
That said, the last 1/4 of Wild Wild Quest feels a bit flimsy and watered-down, plot-wise. Like maybe he was thinking "close enough". The result was still okay, but he could have done better.

A Little Derivative, But Entertaining
Revisado: 01-11-21
This book reminds me A LOT of Tao Wong's "Life in the North". That said, LitRPG tends to be a bit of a formulaic genre; so fair enough. "Shadow Sun Survival: is entertaining escapist fiction, and that's all I was expecting going in. I also enjoyed the voice performance work, being a fan of Soundbooth Theater. Will Watt sounds an awful lot like Neil Gaiman to my ears.

Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

I've been a fan of the Bobiverse series, but some have been better than others. I don't give top marks lightly, but I can now say that Book 4 was (is) the best of the bunch.
