I was looking for an easy summer listen, and this seems intriguing. Wow, totally blew me away how tightly knit this whodunit is. And the multi cast narrator’s are truly fantastic.

I thought I knew a thing or two about math, I thought I'd be interested and engaged. However, he lost me at Pythagorean and I slipped into a blissful slumber... night night.

Phuc, you don't know me but I graduated Carlisle High School 4 years before you (and was thrilled to listen in when your older cousin Tuan makes a inauspicious cameo in the book!). You might have had Dr. Fishman as your English teacher. If so, it shows. You're a damn good writer and I was freaking thrilled the first word of the book is "F***." You know how to command language, how to be human, how to be vulnerable. Congrats, this is one of the best memoirs of the decade (so far) and will endure for a long time. Go, Phuc, go!

Hi there, I couldn't name a Jonas Brothers song but this story is such a great nighttime drift off sort of thing and Nick Jonas does have an exceptional voice. I wish I could say I loved the whole thing but I fell asleep probably 4 minutes in, so tonight I will set my sleeptimer to 10 minutes. New bedtime ritual!

I've listened to a ton of true crime stories and podcasts and this one had me from "this is Audible." I am truly immersed, wish I didn't have to work today as I would spend the whole day walking the dog to finish this. It's awesome.

Take a scientific problem as vexing as cancer, come at it with an age-old yet controversial approach, and turn it over to a talented writer--one who uses simple metaphors to convey the complex, and who sprinkles in references to Jerry Garcia and Cassablanca just to keep you on your toes. The result? A fascinating medical tale that is still taking shape.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

An absolute recommendation for artists, southerners, friends of southerners, people who like art, and dog-lovers and those who know them. Oh, and people who are fascinated by death. And those who love them, too.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hold Still?

Sally Mann's in-laws in Connecticut. What an incredible (and incredibly sad) slice of American life.

What three words best describe Sally Mann’s performance?

Authentic. Thoughtful. Earnest.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Tons -- each time Mann opens up decades, generations, centuries of family history, she taps into each of our lives. The bonds that tie family, that test us and break us apart, are universal. Sally Mann is unflinching in her exploration of her own history and what made her the artist and thinker she is today.
