I am a relative new comer to philosophy and even newer to western philosophy and Existentialism.
I landed on this book through another series of lectures on Existentialism which I found here on Audible. I paused the lecture series when they got to discussing this book and I came over here for a reading of this book hoping it would bring more context and understanding to the lecture series mentioned above. I will now return to the lecture series and see how it goes.
With regard to this book. The narrator is excellent. I believe I’ve heard him in other readings on audible and his enunciation and cadence gives a beginner like me a fair chance at grasping some of the ideas as they are being read.
As for the writing itself I found the first part of the book where Camus is explaining his concepts and the purpose behind the book a little hard to follow. It will definitely require a rereading. But the essays in the appendix are beautifully written and conjure gorgeous images in the flowing style of Camus that I came to love in his other book The Stranger.
Strangely The Stranger was not available on Audible due to Geographic Restrictions (whatever that means). So I had to go to Apple Books to get that one.
I’m still on the fence about Existentialism. I’m hoping that what seems complex concepts will become more understandable as it all sinks in.
Hope you enjoy this book.

This book is great. but as always it would be much better read by the author.
Who can better place the right inflection and convey the true meaning of the words than the person from who's heart these words were derived.
The narrator did a good job.
very clearly spoken, no noticeable mispronunciations pretty good flow with interconnected ideas in the book.
But she could have used to tone down the pretention in her voice and bring more sincerity and natural flow to match the subject matter.
I've heard that some authors prefer to have others read their story. And some don't have a choice because the rights to the audio book are sold by their publisher without their input in the matter.....As I said before who else but the author could bring the most accurate and heartfelt life to their work being read allowed?

Ben Greenfield is a genius. This book is an amazing summary of all the latest understanding of how the body works and how to hack your diet to optimize your body and brain function.
Unfortunately the narrator is unversed in the language of physiology and body chemistry. His pronunciation of very basic words is annoying and distracting from the wonderful content of the book.
He has a good voice and he is a very clear reader. But he could have used some coaching on the pronunciation of some words such as Norepinephrine, Ibogaine, amygdala, etc.....
For what it's worth I love hearing a book being read by the author. You can be assured that the author puts the right emphasis on the content and being an expert in their field assures that the pronunciation is on point.
