Historia
Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

By using this audiobook together with practice, you can learn to understand, read, write, and speak this beautiful language. French tends to have a reputation among English speakers as hard to learn, but it’s easier than you might think.

Robots have terrible accents.

Not a good practice tool
Revisado: 07-11-18
honestly, the narrator talks at you like he's in a rush. There is no fine tuning of pronunciation nor practice of the material beyond stating something once and moving on. I realize that this is more of a personal preference but the voice of the narrator is rather grating as well.

Awesome narration of an amazing book
Revisado: 04-13-18
Would you consider the audio edition of Shantaram to be better than the print version?
I'm not sure I would say that its better than the print version, however, the narrator does a wonderful job with multiple accents consistently for different characters.
Have you listened to any of Humphrey Bower’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, I have not! Though I may just have to look some up!
Any additional comments?
Wonderful performance of one of my favorite books.
