If you're not hearing the depth here, then write down an instruction if approach being offered and go put it into practice. It's only by appli ation will you see the value. "Only take a vote when you know the losers won't care too much", .... Don't focus so much on fixing individual problems with people that never seem to end, but focus on the pattern in an individual, and address that to decide a solution and gain commitment. Just to name a couple points. Excellent book.

As a Dad with five kids, four of them girls - the oldest is thirteen - I will say this was a great book. Even if you don't have kids, this is a good book. i strongly believe pastor's should read this book. It is revealing of the issues familes face, what youth face, and what good leadership looks like. I don't lightly give out 5 stars. Excellent book.

Excellent, Educational, Historical Auto-biography.

I really like this book because Fredrick takes the time to describe what he both painfully witnessed and experienced; insightfully describing the thought processes of a slave; and illuminating with distinction hypocrisy of the religious, just as Jesus did, from true Christianity.

Vivid educational account. Well balanced, just clear recounting of his growing up in early 1900's America. The narrator was excellent. I am a Christian, and think this individual to be more "Christian" than the religious environment he grew up in. His integrity to not submit to any system of control is inspirational!

Absolutely Incredible Writing of Terrible Tragedy

I loved this book almost all the way through. I got so sucked into it hook and line, but I don't suggest sinking with it. The recounts are incredible, detailing the dangers and adventures. At times my heart was rejoicing, and the next it was heavy. My wife asked why I seemed depressed as I tried to shake it. That is what bothers me most. I love how the Catholics take their measure to not let go of God, but I so wish to be able to step in and exhort the hero to pray and listen to God before taking actions. Evil, evil, and more evil, is saddening, which inspires me to be part of the light that delivers people out of darkness. There is hope this book dimly looks to, but there is a light that I know: that there IS hope, meaning and purpose that goes deeper; As we draw near to God, His love heals and fills our hearts to display and carry His heart into this world. I recommend as a follow up, the story of a man with another perspective, and his measure of faith, while a bridge builder for the Germans on the front lines, warning the Jews: "A Thousand Shall Fall".
