Giving honor and expression to a life of conversion: Francis of Assisi
Revisado: 07-19-21
To all my brothers and sisters who have, in any way, contributed to this wonderful production of audio theater, I cannot thank you enough and cannot recommend highly enough the fruits of your labor on behalf of our Lord and our great brother, Saint Francis of Assisi. Well paced, beautifully voiced, and sensitively accompanied by original music
I do not hesitate to predict that this production will further produce spiritual fruits within all who hear it. Peace, praise, and all good to you and to our loving Creator.

Historia
The success of an autobiography can be measured by many different aspects. Some works are of merit for entertainment purposes alone. Many Hollywood celebrities find an audience for their life's story due to their willingness to share closely held secrets and peculiarities. We are drawn in because of the salacious promise of a glimpse into a life more glamorous or unusual than our own.

A great book betrayed
Revisado: 02-04-21
This is unquestionably the worst reading of a book I have heard on Audible. Tediously pitched, amateurishly paced, and infuriatingly affected, it destroyed my admittedly high expectations. How could anyone have passed this travesty through Audible’s multiple levels of authorization? I look forward to an expeditious refund or exchange. Unfortunately, I can do nothing about the execrable taste this performance has left in my mouth; but time heals all wounds….

From its opening minutes on his youthful obsession with motorcycles and speed, On the Move is infused with his restless energy. As he recounts his experiences as a young neurologist in the early 1960s, first in California, where he struggled with drug addiction, and then in New York, where he discovered a long-forgotten illness in the back wards of a chronic hospital, we see how his engagement with patients comes to define his life.

Historia
At the age of 14, György Köves is plucked from his home in a Jewish section of Budapest and, without any particular malice, placed on a train to Auschwitz. He does not understand the reason for his fate. He doesn't particularly think of himself as Jewish. And his fellow prisoners, who decry his lack of Yiddish, keep telling him, "You are no Jew." In the lowest circle of the Holocaust, György remains an outsider.

Shockingly Mundane
Revisado: 01-13-20
After decades of horrifying descriptions of the Holocaust, I found myself deeply moved by this story of a 14-year-old boy’s “Routine“ disappearance into a series of Nazi concentration camps. Written by Hungarian Nobel laureate Imre Kertész, This least sensational account of the event that has done more than any other to alter our sense of what it means to be human will quietly and swiftly permeate your feelings and thoughts about “what it must have been like.“ Unforgettable in its details of observation and character.

Historia
Never before has world-renowned psychoanalyst Alice Miller examined so persuasively the long-range consequences of childhood abuse on the body. Using the experiences of her patients along with the biographical stories of literary giants such as Virginia Woolf, Franz Kafka, and Marcel Proust, Miller shows how a child's humiliation, impotence, and bottled rage will manifest itself as adult illness - be it cancer, stroke, or other debilitating diseases.

A profound examination of body and psyche
Revisado: 01-06-20
In Alice Miller’s The Body Never Lies, readers encounter valuable and sometimes disturbing insights into the complex relationship of the body and the psyche. There is much here to lead perceptive readers to stop listening to the audiobook, and rather to reflect upon his or her own experiences: Experiences of trauma and even of what we might regard as trauma-sustaining therapy. my only complaint with this book is that the narrator is frequently heavy-handed in town. A lighter touch would make it easier for the listener to engage the content more openly.

The tragedy of King Lear receives an outstanding performance in an all-star cast led by Britain’s senior classical actor, Paul Scofield. He is joined by Alec McCowen as Gloucester, Kenneth Branagh as The Fool, Harriet Walter as Gonerill, Sara Kestelman as Regan and Emilia Fox as Cordelia. This is the ninth recording of Shakespeare plays undertaken by Naxos AudioBooks in conjunction with Cambridge University Press, and is directed by John Tydeman. It was released to mark the 80th birthday of Paul Scofield in January 2002.

Ripeness is all…
Revisado: 11-25-19
To any who listen to this tale, who hear it deep in their hearts, I sincerely wish the courage necessary to bear it well. Linger with the language and make good use of the ability to back up and hear a line, a scene, again. The play is difficult to hear, difficult to see, and I am amazed to imagine how difficult to write.

A compelling and comprehensive account of the mythic journey that is still California’s most tragic tale.
Revisado: 05-03-19
This is the finest account of the Donner-Reed Party I’ve encountered! Making full use of the tremendous increase in resources available to any who seek to understand the great American tragedy of 1846-1847, it is the finest overall recounting of their story to date. Start with this one. Then, if you wish, allow your interests to draw you to one of the more specialized investigations. As a narrator, Michael Wallis was a bit distracting for me at first, due to his “twang.“ After a while, however, he won me over and I settled in and greatly enjoyed what felt like an insider’s telling of the tale. While giving great attention to the narrative’s details, it is never sensationalistic or morbid. Highly recommended!
