I found it cathartic. I laughed and cried and learned something about myself at the same time. It was like having a group session at home.

Historia
Dr. Michael Gershon has devoted his career to understanding the human bowel (the stomach, esophagus, small intestine, and colon). His 30 years of research have led to an extraordinary rediscovery: Nerve cells in the gut that act as a brain. This "second brain" can control our gut all by itself. Our two brains - the one in our head and the one in our bowel - must cooperate.

Comprehensive entertainment!

I really learned to appreciate the work of the research itself. Not being in the medical field myself, I was happy to find that the technical nature of the subject didn't keep me from understanding and being able to appreciate the unfolding story. I have family and friends who suffer from gastrointestinal issues. I truly feel that listening to this book will aid in my ability to empathize with and more fully understand their problems. I look forward to learning more about the continuing research. Great work!

Pack your cutlass and blunderbuss--it's time to go a-pirating! The Invisible Hook takes readers inside the wily world of late 17th- and early 18th-century pirates. With swashbuckling irreverence and devilish wit, Peter Leeson uncovers the hidden economics behind pirates' notorious, entertaining, and sometimes downright shocking behavior.

This book was not only educational, but insightful and a lot of fun to listen to as well! Pirates have a whole new dimension for me now. I found the in-depth description of the profit driven social organization truly fascinating.

Historia
In a scrap heap within an abandoned factory, the greatest invention in history lies dormant and unused. By what fatal error of judgment has its value gone unrecognized, its brilliant inventor punished rather than rewarded for his efforts? In defense of those greatest of human qualities that have made civilization possible, one man sets out to show what would happen to the world if all the heroes of innovation and industry went on strike.

Inspired
Revisado: 12-08-20
I have put off starting this book for a very long time because it seemed so incredibly daunting. Having the opportunity to listen to it in this format has been a real boon. Rand's writing is passionate and full of amazing imagery that creates a world that is believable yet somehow has an edge that is also surreal. It's populated by characters that are complicated and utterly human and who inspire the reader to self-examination. The story moves smoothly from event to event building steadily so that the reader is pulled in by the momentum of the journey becoming a part of it, almost forced by the depth of the characters and vivid descriptions and details to imagine being in the story themselves. I'm adding this to my short list of recommended reading.
