Fairly good
Revisado: 11-10-21
I already read the book, so I knew what to expect.
I like the story. I'll keep getting them. my only complaint about the story is being "evil" for the sake of being evil. The MC should make a decision based purely off the fact that it's not good. Mr Peed might cover it in future stories, but I feel like this path will cause issues with the story down the road. i.e. what will the vampires eat when they kill all living.
The narration isn't bad, I just wish they would have stuck with the same narrator. The narrator uses the same voice for the male world litch, the ancient loli vampire, and the teen new vampire. Also, when I read it, I read O-ber-on. or some variation of that. Not O-bree-on.

Historia
The tournament begins. An uneasy peace treaty. A champion emerges. I thought I’d get to spend a little quality time with my new, beautiful, bonded women after taking out the poacher threat, how fast things change. With the tournament only a couple weeks away, a new visitor has arrived at the manor, and she needs my help. I’ll need to rank up my skills to ensure I’ll pass each of the trials in my way, protect those closest to me, and more importantly, survive.

So disappointed
Revisado: 10-05-21
The book had the makings of being good. What I consider it's main issues, and is one of my biggest pet peeve, is the whole book was all about how bad it can get for the MC. The MC starts the book trying to do something nice, then he gets tricked, he gets attacked, his girls get attacked, his girls get kidnapped, his girls get kidnapped again, his girls get killed, everyone around him (including the king) goes against him, and then the "happy" resolutions is the last six ish minutes of the book. The first book was pretty good; about what you would expect. This book, not so much.

Historia
The year is 2076, and mankind has perfected VR technology using the Chip, an implant that interfaces directly with the human brain, using it like an organic computer. Age of Anarchy Online (AAO) is the newest game released by Icestorm, makers of the legendary World of Destiny (WoD). Unlike VR games before it, AAO promises a 110 percent “Better Than Life” realism experience, and to showcase this, Icestorm announces that AAO will have no “Out of Character” rules, save for actions like hacking or exploiting system errors.

Good book, Poor narrator.
Revisado: 05-20-21
I enjoy most of Grosse's books, and liked this book when I read it, but the narrator for this audio book has to be just about the worst narrator I've heard. The narrator sounds like he just decided to sit down one weekend and record himself reading the book. In one go. The recording includes all his mispronounced words, clearing his throat, and mess up and start overs. It's tolerable but I really hope he gets better with practice. Or spends a couple dollars and buys some recording software so he can edit out his screw ups.

good continuation
Revisado: 07-05-20
Another great book. My only complaint is that you don't need to make constant misery and strife for the MC. a lot of authors seem to fall into this think that is what is needed for a good book. When your MC and friends are refugees, fighting the mad king multiple different kingdoms, and assassins, and demons, and a "safe haven" amongst other things; you don't need to make the MC go crazy. Having a calm, bright spot in your book will not lose you readers. Maybe if you have problems solved at least close to as fast as they pop up. Four books in, and I think only a couple little things were solved.

So close to a good book
Revisado: 02-16-20
Parsneau did great as usual. The book could have been really good even with it being a typical harem/power up book. The biggest shortfall of this book in my opinion is how much crap is dumped on the MC. That's probably my biggest pet-peve in any book when the author try's to make the life of the MC harder and harder. The psy mafia is after you? Ok. Now the "order" is after you? Sure, maybe. But wait, there's more. Let's add three other groups to chase you. And not give you even a single moment without a fight for you life. Have one or two over arching protagonists/issues and get creative. It's also not the end of the world if you let the MC have something nice with no repercussions.
On a side note. There is nothing wrong with having a book cover a longer time period. It's not "24" Two days over three book. Come on.

How bad can you make it for the MC?
Revisado: 01-08-20
This book just blows my mind. The general concept sound like it had a lot of potential. The first 8 chapters (about half the book) is all the crap that happened to the MC. No real explanations why. Gets framed, gets convicted, gets a bad job, gets hit by a car, gets screwed while sent into the game, gets enslaved, etc. There was a weak background but it felt like an afterthought. There was also a few points that something "good" happens to the MC, but it's not really all that good and it's very short lived. The MC is a moron. With each new bad situation, the MC makes up some stupid "it'll be ok" "suck it up" excuse. There was several times when it felt that the story was getting better, but something bad happens or some new antagonist walks in.
I have skipped forward through maybe a third of the book hoping that this book will redeem itself.

Historia
Reports to write, forms to fill, coffee to drink, leads to run down. Gus’s life was a tedium and boredom he’d grown comfortable with. One that he sought out after he’d come back from his tour of duty. A detective in the paranormal investigations department. A job he could work day in and day out in relative peace. One cold and forgotten cup of coffee at a time. It was an environment that made some sense to him. At least in comparison to civilian life where almost nothing did. On top of that, it gave him a chance to hide what he was from the rest of the world.

surprisingly good
Revisado: 07-13-19
I wasn't really sure what it would be like when I bought it. Since it was written by Mr Arand, I knew I wouldn't be wasting money. It was an interesting (but good) take on the paranormal/fantasy genre. He even snuck a harem into the story. There was no sex and it wasn't brought into being the traditional way, so it didn't seem like he was building a harem. (well, I guess HE wasn't) Over all, well written, semi realistic and down to earth, and good narration.

so much potential
Revisado: 12-09-18
The book had a lot of potential but ended up being dark and depressing. It kept going further down the path of darkness and strife. The one positive I will give the book is the author's different spin on "monster girls".
