Beautiful, engaging and brilliant
Revisado: 09-07-23
Beautiful, engaging and brilliant! An entire novel succinctly told as a short story. Maybe my favorite, Dennis Taylor story so far.

Historia
Neal Stephenson is a blazing new force on the sci-fi scene. With the groundbreaking cyberpunk novel Snow Crash, he has "vaulted onto the literary stage." It weaves virtual reality, Sumerian myth, and just about everything in between with a cool, hip cybersensibility - in short, it is the gigathriller of the information age.

Amazing voicing of all characters
Revisado: 10-23-22
Of course this is a seminal Science fiction novel. What was unexpectedly wonderful was Jonathan Davises narration. He voiced all the characters, including the 15-year-old girl YT in such a way that he embodied the characters and I always knew who was speaking even without being told. The listening experience was one of my favorites in sci-fi. Every bit as good as Rosario Dawson’s narration of “Artemis.” I’m glad I listen to this audiobook rather than having read it Dash really enjoyed!

For Academics Only
Revisado: 02-21-22
This treatise on revolution reads like a translation of Plato or Rousseau, or even an early American document, in style, word choice, and embellishment. It’s clear the author believes this work to be a seminal philosophical document in our understanding of the subject, but as the above mentioned are largely inaccessible, this volume is similarly inaccessible to the a non-academic audience

Interesting thesis, mediocre narrator
Revisado: 06-16-21
While the thesis is interesting and I’m glad to have listen to it, the narrator was fairly dry and mispronounced several words in a jarring way. The producers really should have caught that and re-recorded those sections.

Insightful but repetitive
Revisado: 05-28-21
Interesting and insightful, though not surprising to anyone who has studied even introductory psychology. Also, consider the dead horse beaten. The points are introduced, retold, summarized, repeated, and reintroduced. The book could have been half the size or included twice the number of demonstrative examples.

Started strong, then repetitive
Revisado: 05-12-21
The book started strong, but then became repetitive about halfway through. The examples were more citations of examples than stories that descriptively showed the issues and how they developed.

Fantastic story; good, but not great, narration
Revisado: 08-27-20
The story was fantastic! The narrator, however, lacked range. While she would be a five star narrator for a non-fiction work, she does not match up to the greats of science fiction narration such as Rosario Dawson or Wil Wheaton. Sometimes I had difficulty telling the characters apart.

Historia
Ever since Martin Banks and his fellow computer geeks discovered that reality is just a computer program to be happily hacked, they've been jaunting back and forth through time, posing as medieval wizards and having the epic adventures that other nerds can only dream of having. But even in their wildest fantasies, they never expected to end up at the mercy of the former apprentice whom they sent to prison for gross misuse of magic and all-around evil behavior.

Lazy storyline, poor character development
Revisado: 07-26-18
The lazy storyline of creating a bad game made for a fairly boring and predictable narrative. I really enjoyed the first two books of the series. This one could’ve been so much more creative. The character development was lacking in this one as well. I will listen to the next book in the series, but I’m hoping for something much better.

Historia
It began on New Year’s Eve. The sickness came on suddenly, and spread quickly. The fear spread even faster. Within weeks, everything people counted on began to fail them. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed - and more than half of the world’s population was decimated. Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magick rose up in its place.

Excellent story, good performance w 1 problem
Revisado: 02-10-18
I love the story. I thought it did have just the right amount of detail. The performance was very good, but all of the male voices sounded like a raspy 80-year-old. A more natural deep tone would have been better. Voices don’t have to be accurate to the character’s range, so much as faithful to the character’s tone and different from each other. I didn’t let that take away from the story or enjoying the experience
