Historia
Carrie Soto is fierce, and her determination to win at any cost has not made her popular. But by the time she retires from tennis, she is the best player the world has ever seen. She has shattered every record and claimed twenty Grand Slam titles. And if you ask Carrie, she is entitled to every one. She sacrificed nearly everything to become the best, with her father, Javier, as her coach. A former champion himself, Javier has trained her since the age of two.

Her stories can be preachy
Revisado: 09-22-23
I love her character development. The stories are good. This is my 4th book by her and I am getting tired of the “oh I have it so bad because I am not 1) heterosexual, 2) white, 3) male.” I love the way the stories build and my attachment to the characters but the “you don’t know how bad I have it” stuff is getting old. I wish she would just tell the story without all of the wokeish preaching.

Historia
A fresh start. That's what Becca hoped the move from New York to Redemption, Wisconsin would be for her troubled family. A way to get her crumbling marriage back on track, and to bond with her difficult 16-year-old stepdaughter. But instead of a new beginning, Becca is thrust into a mysterious past she barely remembers. A past that includes the complications of interacting with her old teenage crush, Daniel, as well as living in her aunt's old house. A house with a violent past. A house the locals swear is haunted.

Too whiny
Revisado: 04-02-23
I struggled getting through this book. I fast forwarded through a ton of the main character whining, and hours and hours of self doubt. This was not my cup of tea.

I always find it interesting when the only argument is to attack the person and not the theory. It just shows how much most people want to hide from reality or ignore people because it doesn’t fit an agenda. If we don’t use the ideas from others, we are choosing to be sheep.

The decision has been made. Jessie has taken the magic and all the weird that goes with it. Including wings. There's only one problem - she can't figure out how to access them. Through a series of terrible decisions, Jessie realizes she must ask for help. Gargoyle help. But she could've never predicted who answers her call - he's an excellent flier, incredibly patient, and a good trainer. He's also incredibly handsome. And interested.

A fun read
Revisado: 12-02-20
As a female in about the same age group as the main character, I find this book very funny. Most of us that were single for any period of time had some of these bad dates. If I were male, I might be offended by this book but I found it very funny. I think the house has an interesting sense of humor and the characters are all caricature of people we all know. Don’t take it too seriously and enjoy the one liners.

Historia
Here are the thrills, grandeur, and unabashed fun of the Greek myths, stylishly retold by Stephen Fry. The legendary writer, actor, and comedian breathes life into ancient tales, from Pandora's box to Prometheus's fire, and transforms the adventures of Zeus and the Olympians into emotionally resonant and deeply funny stories, without losing any of their original wonder. Learned notes from the author offer rich cultural context. This volume is a doorway into a captivating world.

Unexpectedly delightful
Revisado: 04-25-20
I’ve never really been a fan of Greek mythology with all of its tragedy and suffering but this telling was wonderful. For a high school project my kid had to work on some of the Greek gods and this made the work not only palatable but brought it to life. This will be one that I will listen to over and over.

Ok story loose ends and a breathy reading
Revisado: 01-29-19
The story is ok but there are a lot of things unexplained. I am hoping the series will fill me it. Overall the story has moderate entertainment value. I really struggled with the reader. She sounded like she was always trying to seduce everyone with her breathy voice, making the story feel too “romancy” for my taste. I really hesitate to get the next one in the series because of the read. Maybe I’ll get used to it.

Historia
Victorian romance mixes seamlessly with elegant prose and biting wit—and werewolves—in Gail Carriger’s delightful debut novel. Soulless introduces Alexia Tarabotti, a parasol-wielding Londoner getting dangerously close to spinster status. But there are more important things than finding a husband. For Alexia was born without a soul, giving her the ability to render any vampire or werewolf completely powerless.

Ok read
Revisado: 06-21-17
The book is a very light read. I found it funny and fairly interesting until Alexia became stupid close to the end. She had been built as highly intelligent and all of a sudden lost her brain when she needed it.
It is a little too real romance driven for my taste. The premise is really good, but becoming so amorous during a very dramatic time in the book cheapened it.

Historia
Hurrying to the old bridge that crossed Yellow Creek, Courtney stepped to the side as a car came up behind her. The bridge was only wide enough for one car and even foot traffic had to climb up on the narrow ledge for safety. The car slowed and the driver's side window rolled down. A familiar face greeted Courtney. "Hey, Courtney, how about a ride?" he asked. She shook her head. "No, thanks, I'm good," she said. "It's only a few more blocks." The driver looked up to the sky.

Nice light reading
Revisado: 09-25-15
I like this series because it doesn't have a lot of foul language. The stories are very light, The entire series is a bit too romance driven for me but for a quick lite read while doing housework or driving a long distance it is fine.
