Necromancy and catacombs
Revisado: 04-30-25
Necromancy and catacombs -always a good combination. Characters are better developed than in Wells’ prior book. The setting is first-rate. The tale is more suspense and sorcery than blood and horror, definitely a match for my taste.

Bravo to the new voice actor!
Revisado: 04-05-17
The voice actor for this book is different come the one for the first three books on the series. His French pronunciations are a great improvement, as are his voicings of the characters. I was able to lose myself In the story instead of being frustrated with the reading.

French is a beautiful language
Revisado: 04-03-17
French is a beautiful language when pronounced correctly. Unfortunately, the reader wasn't able to do this. Every "de" was pronounced "day", every "le" pronounced "la". More complex names were similarly mispronounced.
The readers voice was generally good, but he inexplicably changed to an overly precise, stilted tone several times.
The voice used for one of the women's voices was lower in pitch than the men she conversed with.
These problems, and the apparent lack of preparation by the reader, were constant distractions from the story.

Another solid adventure with Nathan McBride
Revisado: 01-03-17
This is the third Nathan NcBride story I've listened to on Audible (Amazon didn't have the second book available). This is my favorite in the series so far. Well-written story, well-developed character. I enjoyed the suspense and the way Nathan continuously revises his strategy as the situation changes.
I have only one complaint about the audio. When speaking in character, the Voice actor goes down in town at the end of each sentence, and that impacts the portrayal of the characters, making them sound tired every time they speak. Since Nathan is written as a positive person, this doesn't sound right to me.I understand that the characters become more tired throughout the story, but I don't think they should sound that way from page 1.
