Historia
St. Vincent's Orphanage for Boys. Turn of the century, in a remote valley in Pennsylvania. Here, under the watchful eyes of several priests, thirty boys work, learn, and worship. Peter Barlow, orphaned as a child by a gruesome murder, has made a new life here. As he approaches adulthood, he has friends, a future...a family. Then, late one stormy night, a group of men arrive at their door, one of whom is badly wounded, occult symbols carved into his flesh. His death releases an ancient evil that spreads like sickness, infecting St. Vincent's and the children within.

Historia
It was no secret that journalist Jack Sparks had been researching the occult for his new book. No stranger to controversy, he'd already triggered a furious Twitter storm by mocking an exorcism he witnessed. Then there was that video: 40 seconds of chilling footage that Jack repeatedly claimed was not of his making, yet it was posted from his own YouTube account. Nobody knew what happened to Jack in the days that followed - until now.

rare originality
Revisado: 02-16-20
I've been getting into horror literature for the past year or so and have to say that while this isn't my favorite it is definitely the most original. it never bored me and that's quite rare when dealing with novels. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of any genre for that very reason.

weird

I didn't enjoy this, but the narrator was really good, not good enough to redeem the bafflingly nonsensical plot, but definitely really good.

it had very compelling characters, but nothing happens that you wouldn't immediately predict and so it feels like it just keeps going over the same stuff over and over again, it was weird about halfway through I realized I didn't really like it but I kept holding out hope something might happpen....but nope read the first 3 chapters and u can easily predict the rest of the book

not great, but not horrible
Revisado: 12-19-19
there's an incredibly compelling cast of characters and plot line, but the twists always just ended up predictable or disappointing. there is no horror. that's a spoiler people should know going in. the horror you keep waiting for never shows up.

It’s a one sided conversation, it’s an old mans diatribe, it’s subjective and silly and self important... honestly I couldn’t get past the first twenty minutes, maybe it gets great, maybe it would change my life and make a better person, but who the fuck cares, we’re all going to be dead very very very soon, entertain first enlighten second
