I have listened to all the Railway Detective stories.
They are set in an interesting time and many storylines add variety.
The language is old fashion which is nice. Some of the things the grandpa says is a bit irritating but that’s real life

I am not a big fan of Michael Bennett and the other one
But this story is clever funny not so dark even though it’s a murder mystery

Los Angeles is a city of stark contrast, the palaces of the affluent coexisting uneasily with the hellholes of the mad and the needy. That shadow world and the violence it breeds draw brilliant psychologist Dr. Alex Delaware and Detective Milo Sturgis into an unsettling case of altruism gone wrong.

Her producer, her lover, her playwright and her agent are all here along with the haughty master of the estate, Canifes and his daughter. So many suspects they become when Marcia Tait is found dead on Christmas morning in the lakeside pavilion, having been left there alone the night before and with a distinct lack of footprints in the snow to reveal any possible killer.

Best series Ever
Revisado: 09-22-21
There are only 3 I think audiobooks that are available in audio.
The narrator is superb and captures all the characters perfectly.
The plots are complex and interesting.
I love the main character and he is brilliant.
Sometimes if there is too much conflict in the workplace of a police procedural it takes away from my enjoyment of the mystery because I hate unfairness
This is realistically written the story captured my interest and I had to keep listening till the end.
I sure do wish they would put the other books in the series on audible as it is hard when you love mysteries and have listened to so many wonderful authors and narrators and you find one you love and it only has a few of the books
I actually broke down and purchased the next one on kindle but I am so loving audio books that I hope I will have the patience to read it.
I only read short stories now as audio is so amazing
Thanks Audible

Historia
A large country mansion. A locked room. A gruesome murder. Russian oligarch Alexander Volkov has invited 1,000 guests to a party at his palatial Surrey residence, Westgrave Hall. But while giving a private tour of the library, a gunman kills Volkov, wounding his ex-wife and slaying her new beau. Nothing makes sense to DCI Craig Gillard. In the blood-spattered crime scene there are no forensic traces of anyone else involved, CCTV shows no one entered or left the library, and everyone seems to have an alibi.

LAPD Homicide Lieutenant Milo Sturgis is a master detective. He has a near-perfect solve rate, and he’s written his own rule book. Some of those successes - the toughest ones - have involved his best friend, the brilliant Psychologist Alex Delaware. But Milo doesn’t call Alex in unless cases are "different". This murder warrants an immediate call. Milo’s independence has been compromised as never before, as the department pressures him to cater to the demands of a mogul: a hard-to-fathom, megarich young woman who is obsessed with reopening the coldest of cases.
