Liked the writing, the legal processes as the case unfolded, the characters. Engaging and beautifully written.

I was so glad to hear Harry’s story in his own voice. Being a US person, I only have snippets of the lives of people in the English monarchy. Harry’s story of a young boy loosing his beloved mother; having an older brother with whom things were hit and cold; dating and having supportive, deep friendships; traveling and being a soldier - all very human experiences but very different because of the context he was born into. I have huge admiration for the move toward freedom he took. I admire the courage and dedication it took to follow his heart and use his intelligence and personal resources to live his integrity.

A book club read, I went mentally kicking and screaming into the recent choice of Signs. I wasn’t too far into the Audible “read” before I moved closer to impressed and excited to know more about how to look for signs from loved ones who passed. In fact, I have been thinking about my husband who died 10 months ago, even before reading Signs. I am actively looking for signs from him in the form of hawks to let me know he’s okay. Thank you LLL.

I am not a reader of relationship focused non-fiction. The Bloom’s Happily Ever After book did not change my mind about the genre, but I am glad I read it as it is full of wisdom. I marveled at the depth of scrutiny at an almost molecular level each of the myths was written. The Personal examples and life stories of others brought each point home. I kept likening the detailed descriptions to viewing an element of a myth under a microscope, but artfully written. The narrator could not have been better, reading with perfect tone and pitch with empathy and emphasis. Kudos to Linda and Charlie Bloom. I will share and recommend this book for sure.

Kept me listening. Felt a bit let down by ending. How could Lowen be so naive? Was Verity’s manuscript the real truth or a writer’s exercise?

Would you listen to Trumbo again? Why?

I really enjoyed Trumbo and the history of the black listed writers, actors, directors, etc in a time of history that made Trumbo and broke other artists. I heard about the recent movie and wanted to know more about the Dalton Trumbo. The historical context and political influences that wreaked havoc with people's lives and creativity was told in compelling and honest narrative. Great read.

What did you like best about this story?

Dalton Trumbo's resolve to support his family and his willingness to do all kinds of work to write and support his family was impressive. The extent to which the governrment hearings that resulted in the blacklisting of many people is tragic

What does Luke Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Luke Daniel's reading of the book was stellar. He was able to consistently create characters that I felt and felt for throughout the story.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Creativity (writing genius) lives even in the darkest of times.
