Historia
Arthur Parnassus lives a good life built on the ashes of a bad one. He’s the headmaster of a strange orphanage on a distant and peculiar island, and he hopes to soon be the adoptive father to the six dangerous and magical children who live there. Arthur works hard and loves with his whole heart so none of the children ever feel the neglect and pain that he once felt as an orphan on that very same island so long ago. He is not alone: joining him is the love of his life, Linus Baker, a former caseworker in the Department in Charge of Magical Youth.

Heartwarming
Revisado: 04-24-25
I love this series, it is very cheesy at times but still heartwarming. The narrator is perfect for this series! I love his voices and his passion. If you look up a picture of him, he’s exactly how I imagine Arthur looking! The books center on inclusivity between all types of people (and monsters) and I love the real life implications.
The ending acknowledgments did throw me a little. He states he wants to be everything JK Rowling isn’t, which is sad because I love the Harry Potter series most of all. I feel as though people really misunderstood the situation with JK regarding trans not being in her books. We must remember that not only were the books written in the 90’s, they take place even earlier when the idea of trans was not as widely thought of or understood as it is today. The show Friends couldn’t even re-air the episode about Ross’s ex marrying another women! Different times, different minds.
I still love these books and encourage all readers young and old to enjoy them!

Just another typical murder mystery
Revisado: 02-27-25
Nothing exciting about it, pretty straight forward and predictable. Performance was good though. At least it was short

I thought the story was original but the main character made so many bad decisions, it got slightly annoying. Good ending though.

My favorite of the series
Revisado: 02-16-25
I enjoyed these books, not a 5 star but still pretty good. The characters are mostly likable. The ending felt as if more needed to be said, as if the author just wanted to get the last few chapters over with but still a satisfying ending overall.

Good listen, not overly exciting but enjoyable.
Revisado: 11-21-24
I really enjoyed this book, I was looking for a fantasy not centered around a romance. Most fantasy novels are full of “spice”, this has a love story but it’s not the main focus with no smut. Good for younger readers.

Historia
Some places seem too beautiful to be touched by horror. Summit Lake, nestled in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, is that kind of place. But two weeks ago, Becca Eckersley, a first-year law student and daughter of a powerful attorney, was brutally murdered there. Now the town is reeling with grief, and the police are baffled.

Predictable and the author’s voice…
Revisado: 04-17-23
I was hoping for an exciting twist but the ending fell flat. The author also has a “valley girl” voice that is hard to get past.
