Historia
Scraps, a gutter child, is sitting in his hiding place in a back alley, waiting for the cold thunderstorm to pass. Suddenly, lightning strikes in front of him, and then a second time. The two lightning bolts become men — two wizards — one from the Red Order, the other from the Blue. The Red Wizard, chanting his curses, throws lightning bolts and fireballs. The Blue Wizard, singing his spells, throws lightning bolts and ice shards.

For the 1st Time, I want a sequel!
Revisado: 03-03-25
I’ve been a faithful and constant follower of Audible since 2006 even before Amazon. Yes I could have retired to warm climes and sandy shores with the money I have spent but reading has always been my escape, my love of good stories so when I began losing my sight I found the “narrator” to bridge the gap I couldn’t anymore. I found that books could be made works of art or trashed by the narrator so much so that I stubbornly kept my favorite books just in case I could reread it the way I felt it should be with expression, emotions, and voices that fleshed out the characters and created worlds! In the almost 20 years with Audible, I’ve developed my favorites shelf and circular filed the stilted, smarmy, lifeless, phoney, monotone, and too exaggerated narrators and grieved that I could have spent that credit on a better book! But I have won the Trifecta! I’ve found an unbelievably talented author; a narrator who is a true reader, a magic performer; and a director who can take the pages between front and back covers and create its world! This book is one of their creations. And the best part, they seem to do it effortlessly. Just keep walking, No Prima Donnas here! How smug am I when I hit my play icon, I KNOW THIS WILL BE A GOOD BOOK! Audible, please publish any Haddock creations and guarantee it will be performed as it should be, a mind seizing work of art, by Daniel Wisniewski! I could go on about this combo who have certainly taken First Place on my favorites shelf but the best thing I can do is urge you, the listener, to get this book. Enjoy !!i

They’ve done it again!
Revisado: 01-01-25
This author and this narrator create hours of wonderful entertainment! And it’s done in my favorite medium, the audio book. Having a book and a body that can read does not guarantee that the imagination and page after page of adventure, wonder, colorful characters are going to result as we all know but with James Haddock and Daniel Wisniewski, it’s a sure bet that you’ll find that and more! To date I’ve invested in all except three of Audibles offerings of Haddock and have acclaimed them all successful in titillating my jaded palate! And here again, we all know that a poor narrator can ruin any book and often their talent saves a poorer compilation! So you’ve got to have two as in Haddock and Wisniewski! Please guys, start up the production lines. I’m running out of your 5 star books.

A coup has thrown the kingdom of Farshores into turmoil, and one of the pretender’s first moves was to order mercenaries to invade the Mage District and put all its inhabitants - men, women, and children - to the sword. There is one survivor: Horace Stonecutter, the youngest son of the Stonecutter family. Consumed with anger and a hunger for retribution, he journeys out to find who ordered the murder of his family. Along his bloody journey, he meets kings, princes, princesses, noblemen - and not so noble men. May God have mercy on his enemies - because he won’t.

They go together like Minnie and Mickey!
Revisado: 12-30-24
Very rarely do you find a narrator and author that compliment each other like author Haddick and narrator Wisniewski. I’ve been an Audible member since 2006 and I can’t remember ever moving a narrator to my top five list in a months time and Daniel blew by four and five! James H is a truly talented author and creates worlds that I love in all guises: contemporary, fantasy, western, and all avenues of magic and paranormal. Usually, I enjoy the reading of a book more than audio but with these two, audio is preferred. I now have all of Haddicks books with the exception of one that sounds riveting but the narrator is not Daniel and I don’t want to be disappointed or waste a credit.

Couldn’t take off my ear phones!! The world could have experienced total breakdown and as long as my ipad battery stayed up, I wouldn’t have known it. This story has it all: Heroes; heroines; really bad guys and Villains; adventures, good and bad; Triumphs and disasters. It’s been a while since I was so immersed in a book. Highly recommend!

Victor can’t wait to get the hell out of high school, go to the local community college on a sports scholarship, and start his own life. But that’s all put on hold when he enters his abuela’s house and somehow ends up stepping into a world unlike anything he’s ever known, filled with fantastical meta-humans; walking, talking devils; and other creatures one usually needs some serious pharmaceuticals to see. Fanwath is no dream, though. In fact, it’s a nightmare.

Revisado: 10-04-24
I was just getting to understand this different concept of story telling and Pit Fighter has almost changed my mind. I’ve never found any form of communication enhanced by using only one adjective, the famous four letter kind. what a waste of a good story line! I imagine that’s why the use of an alias. I’m going to stick with some of the creators I know.

Caught in the Samo-Samo loop just like the previous Reviewer!
Revisado: 08-13-24
I always agree with my cohort reviewer that points out that the books are definitely monotonous, stuck in a rut, and getting shorter every year. I’ll admit my common sense goes out the window with this series but I keep hoping that this edition will be a GOOD shorter story that has gotten OUT OF THE RUT. Any takers?

It’s August in Chattanooga, Tennessee and moonshiner Hattie Hayes has collaborated with a nearby vineyard to serve her moonshine at a Wine and 'Shine event. Not only is this an opportunity for Hattie to gain more moonshine fans, but she’s also excited to hear the Bootlegging Brothers, a popular bluegrass band. But not every attendee is looking for harmony. When one of the brothers disappears and is presumed dead, Hattie realizes her grace note gathering has suddenly turned more sour than her mash.

I can’t believe I’m hooked on a cozy series!
Revisado: 03-18-24
This has been the third, and last available, of a cozy mystery series. I have no idea why the name cozy but this one is all aces: humor (in all shapes and sizes from the 98 yr old grandfather who is the Don Juan of the retirement home, to the 17 lb. kitty who can destroy a couch in one setting). romance (the old fashioned type , no hot attacks in the bedroom, or ugly language describing every move), action( in spite of plenty of warnings to stay safe, the heroine ALWAYS finds at least one way to be a bad guys target) and a roomful of very colorful relatives and friends. Did we mention the 17 lb. cat and a police horse with the patience of Job? It’s nothing real deep but it’s not shoddy journalism either. It’s the book that that appeals to our sense of family, neighborhood, and community. Though not my usual fare in audio books, I HIGHLY recommend.
ps. The second narrator was ordained to read this series. Hope the powers that be realize this!

What’s wrong with the narrator?
Revisado: 03-18-24
I’m certainly glad I was not influenced by the review that preceded The Proof is in the Poison! There’s always a little grumbling and a little hurrahing with the change of a series, even a trilogy, narrator but the review that came out first on Poison was absolutely vitriolic! The reviewer chided the pace of the presentation advising the listener to set the speed up to 1.3 as the narrator dragged and couldn’t perform a soft, Southern drawl something desperately needed for this series which is set in Tennessee. The reviewer further stated that new narrator slipped in and out of the Southern drawl so often that the listener was never quite sure what part of the country the story referred to. This was a criticism I couldn’t even begin to acknowledge since at no time did the narrator NOT deliver anything other than the soft, descriptive Southern language we immediately identify as the American South.
At no time was the delivery of the narrator inconsistent or shifting back and forth between various accents. I really felt the second narrator gave the best reading and I’m hoping she’ll be doing the rest of the series.

Believe it! The 2nd book is better than the first!
Revisado: 02-03-24
Yes, it is the familiar three heroines in paranormal circumstances and each stars in their own book and find their own love of their life amid the sleuthing and adventures; BUT Jayne has imbibed all with new twists, new intrigue, and a touch more cliff hangers! The first book was highly entertaining but the second was a one listen event. The finger never drifted towards the off icon! No, take that last line back! When Eva regergitated “Nevada” like a Maine tourist I was tempted. Someone please educate Eva as to the proper pronunciation. Otherwise she was a five star performer.

Even if my spelling is doubtful, the honest enjoyment of On a Night Like This was certain. I don’t normally listen to romances but this was different in a very entertaining way. Maybe because I’ve never been to New York City.
