Historia
It’s ho, ho, ho time in this hilarious and wacky Florida holiday tale, featuring bighearted psychopath Serge Storms and his sidekick, Coleman. Like Santa, Serge knows who’s been naughty and who’s been nice. Few can give with the generosity and creativity of Serge, and as December 24 rolls around, he is filling up the Serge sleigh with an unforgettable bag of presents. But before that, it’s all a big free-range Christmas office party, where Serge will be spreading his special cheer. And there’s that last-minute go-for-broke spree at the mall (just beware of those attacking elves - they bite).

Fun Holiday Reading for Serge Fans
Revisado: 11-20-23
I have a few books I listen to every holiday season. I'm a big fan of Tim Dorsey and love the Serge Storm series. This playful excursion into the wacky Florida world is the perfect starting point for my Holiday Book Playlist, Next up David Sedaris.

Historia
It’s almost Christmas and Bunny McGarry is not in the festive spirit. His mood is not improved when an old friend becomes the victim of a violent assault and, for reasons he can’t understand, the police force he is a member of has decided not to investigate. Getting to the bottom of the case ends up putting him on the wrong side of some powerful people.

I was so excited when I saw there was another Dublin Series book out. The colorful characters and nicely woven story are entertaining as expected.

Historia
Rob is a pop-music junkie who runs his own semi-failing record store. His girlfriend, Laura, has just left him for the guy upstairs, and Rob is both miserable and relieved. After all, could he have spent his life with someone who has a bad record collection? Rob tries dating a singer, but maybe it’s just that he’s always wanted to sleep with someone who has a record contract. Then he sees Laura again. And Rob begins to think that life with kids, marriage, barbecues, and soft-rock CDs might not be so bad.

My first Hornby book.
Revisado: 10-08-20
This was my first Nick Hornby book, but definitely not my last. Set in a timeframe that matched perfect with my life, it was full of characters that reminded me of myself and my childhood friends. I found the book consistently humorous with moments that had me laughing out loud. Chocked full of pop culture references that took me back to early adulthood, this story touched me in ways that few modern books do. Queuing up my next Hornby now.

Kiki Pew was a founding member of the Potussies, a group of women dedicated to supporting the President, who spends half the year at the “Winter White House” just down the road. Meanwhile, Angie Armstrong, wildlife wrangler extraordinaire, is called to the island to deal with a monster-sized Burmese python that has taken residency in a tree. But the President is focused on the disappearance of Kiki Pew.

Disappointing one sided dive into biased politics
Revisado: 09-08-20
I was excited for a new story from a writer I consider one of my modern favorites. I usually enjoy his fiction as an escape from the highly partisan world we live in. I love Hiaasen for his humor and twisted storytelling. I’m no fan of Trump but this was a bit too much. If you’re consumed by your hate for Trump you’ll probably find this funny as Hiaasen pours on the bias. But unfortunately he strays from his usual over the top humorous plots to perform an unexpected hit piece on the current administration. Disappointed and hope this isn’t a sign of things to come.
