Historia
Lose yourself in the gripping first novel in a new series of Golden Age murder mysteries set amid the lives of the glamorous Mitford sisters. It's 1919, and Louisa Cannon dreams of escaping her life of poverty in London, and most of all her oppressive and dangerous uncle. Not any Mitford I know
Revisado: 11-12-17
This book fails on several counts
1. Nancy Mitford was not ever a rather silly girl as portrayed
2. She would not have fraternised with a servant in the manner described
3. The plot is implausible and relies on at least one unlikely coincidence
4. The resolution is completely implausible
5. The writing is competent but not gripping
There are supposedly 5 more books in the series. I'm sorry I spent money on the first and won't be wasting time on the next five.

Historia
Thomas Caine lives in the shadows. Betrayed and left for dead, he has put his past as a CIA assassin behind him. Now he lives off the grid, and hides from his dark past in the seedy underworld of Pattaya, Thailand. But when local gangsters set him up for a crime he didn't commit, he finds himself back in the clutches of the CIA. His old masters make him an offer he can't refuse: rot in a hellish Thai prison, or accept a dangerous mission in Tokyo, Japan.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Teenage boys
Would you ever listen to anything by Andrew Warren again?
No
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
At least he spoke English.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Tokyo Black?
Just about everything
Any additional comments?
I stopped reading this book after about two hours. I couldnt take anymore. The plot seems to be based in Tokyo because the author once went there as a tourist. The principal European characters are cardboard cutouts. The Japanese characters are cartoons. There is a lot of violence but it is so implausible that it is not even amusing.
