I've never been able to read a Wayne Dyer book all the way through before. I think the combination of short bits from different interviews, presentations, etc coupled with Wayne Dyer's own charismatic performance made this book something I not only finished, but enjoyed every moment of.

What made the experience of listening to Uncommon Grounds the most enjoyable?

The story is written very well and it held my interest. I usually listen while I paint or work in my studio so I'm not looking for a complicated story. I really liked the character development though sometimes it was difficult to differentiate between the different character voices.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

There were a couple parts of the book that were fast paced, but i frequently felt on edge because of the way the narrator was reading. It seemed like she had an artificial urgency in her voice at parts when there was no need.

What does Karen Savage bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I felt like I was listening to a female version of a film noir inner monologue. For me,though, this didn't really distract from the narration, but I didn't find it necessary, nor did it fit with the words she was reading.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this first book of the series and I will continue with it. The narration wasn't ideal, but once I became immersed in the story, I stopped noticing the affectations.

Would you listen to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter again? Why?

I would...the story really held my attention. The historical details were nicely woven through the novel.

What did you like best about this story?

I really enjoyed the mix of fantasy & reality. It was great to hear true details of one of our country's most celebrated presidents mixed with vampires, a subject that holds so many people's attention. The novel had some very fast paced moments as well as some slower areas that provided great character development not only of the fictionalized Lincoln, but many other people that he met along his quest.

What does Scott Holst bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His strong portrayal of Lincoln was great...his voice conveyed such emotion when Lincoln experienced loss or hardship (which happened quite often.) Being as this is a story told almost exclusively through Lincoln there isn't a lot of need for different character voices, but occasionally when a conversation between Lincoln & his father was conveyed, there wasn't enough of a difference between the 2 voices to easily distinguish them from each other. Overall though he was an amazing narrator & helped this story come to life.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There are several moments when Lincoln suffered tremendous loss that were described with such emotion that it was easy to feel empathy for Lincoln & all that he endured. (Both real and imagined.)
