A lot of dialogue but a good story
Revisado: 11-24-24
The beginning of the book sets the scene. The middle of the book is a lot of filler dialogue at times I wasn’t sure where she was going with it. I almost DNF. The end of the book she feeds you just enough crumbs to keep you listening. The premise of the story IS good and she wraps up the ending nicely.

Meh
Revisado: 08-22-24
A lot of seemingly unnecessary dialog to fill a 65 chapter book that could have been summed up in less than half that. I’m not even half way through and have skipped whole chapters and not missed anything. The chapters from Nicole’s pov are pointless, on top of being extremely juvenile and hard to listen to. We get it she’s a sleezy, self deprecating teenager. The author *really* drove that home. This is not really a book for anyone with a fully developed frontal lobe. The premise of the story has the potential to be good but overall it is poorly constructed with a lot of filler.

Historia
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Edge of my seat
Revisado: 11-13-23
I binge listened to this whole book in a matter of DAYS. What a wild ride. PLEASE don’t make us wait too long for book three. World/story building and character development was so well done. Twists and turns through the whole book that will have you on the edge of your seat!

Historia
Meghan, Brecia, and Skye have just one thing in common. They were all murdered by the same man. He hunted them online, masquerading as an eligible bachelor. Then he played the perfect gentleman, a thick layer of charm and a thousand-watt smile hiding the fact that his first dates end in shallow graves. He’s gotten away with murder three times now. The only thing that might keep him from killing again? The women he murdered. Meghan, Brecia, and Skye might be dead, but they’re not gone. They’ve found each other. And they won’t rest until they find a way to stop him.

Meh.
Revisado: 11-02-23
Personally I didn’t feel intrigued until the last few chapters of the book. I think the premise of the story is good. This was a quick read but also it was hard to follow along while doing other tasks because of the back and fourth between characters as each chapter is told by one of three girls. Trying to keep track of each girls story was a little more challenging. I guess it just depends on your personal preference for story building and character development.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Wonderful story, narration maybe not so wonderful
Revisado: 10-29-23
While I understand the need for accent changes between characters, I personally found the accents throughout to be too child like and perhaps poorly done. In the beginning while trying to get into the story I found it hard to take it seriously due to the dialect chosen for kya. The story itself is wonderfully put together. I enjoyed both the book and the movie for different reasons.

A lot happens in this book
Revisado: 05-01-23
I was told the first book or two were a slow read. I did not really agree I was hooked and read both within in 3 weeks. I will say that SO MUCH happens in this, the third book. As a ‘listener’ I found myself going “wait what” so many times in the first 20 chapters I ended up starting again so I could pay better attention. There are lots of new characters to follow. As always SJM doesn’t disappoint!

A easy read with decent story line
Revisado: 09-12-22
This is the second CH book I’ve read. Both books were easy reads and the story lines are good. However, the context between the characters in both books is juvenile and a little cringey for me as an adult reader. The intimate parts are tasteful enough and not over the top. Good enough for an easy read but I don’t know that I will consider myself a die hard CH fan.

I will definitely be listening to this book a second time. I think it’s helpful to know that even though this is an audio you want to make sure that you are able to really listen, note take and practice the meditations offered throughout.
