love this series

This is one of my favorite series for several reasons; the love of science, the nerdy references, but mostly because the plot moves up as well as forward. So many stories are the protagonist has their situation introduced, the antagonist threatens or takes something the. after great turmoil and bitter sacrifices the antagonist scratches out a compromised version of a victory. This series takes a different approach with the traditional struggle.

some of the subplots drag a little and the deep explanations that Clancy is famous for are missing. The conclusion is more substantial than some Clancy Ryan stories, which is nice because you get a little more sense of finality.

I read the series

I had read the series several years ago and was excited for the audio book but the performance was poor. The story jumps timelines and stories but the reader doesn't pause, change tone, or attempt voices for the different characters. During moments of intensity the reader just keeps going at the same pace and tone. This really flattens and white washes the story.
