Good overall but lost it’s spark for me
Revisado: 06-14-24
I’ll start by saying that I really struggled with the new narrator at first. The tone change from fierce to upbeat was jarring and didn’t feel like the same character, BUT it does get better about 6 chapters in and then I didn’t notice it. I enjoyed the storyline though I felt some parts were drawn out and fairly predictable. I still thoroughly enjoyed this series and will continue to listen to see where it goes next!

Historia
In 1903, fishermen find a wrecked boat containing a woman, who has been badly beaten, and a young girl. In 1993, All Hallows is now a boarding school. Following his mother’s death and his father’s hasty remarriage, Lewis Tyler is banished to Dartmoor, stripped of his fashionable clothes, shorn of his long hair and left feeling more alone than ever. There he meets Isak, another lost soul, and whilst refurbishment of the dormitories is taking place, the boys are marooned up in the attic, in an old wing of the school.

A Good Read!
Revisado: 03-04-24
This is my second book by this author and I enjoyed it like the first. Both narrators were fantastic and the characters were well developed. Though I love a good mystery, some of the storyline was a bit far fetched. Nonetheless it was an easy and enjoyable read. Despite the stretch of the final storyline, all the loose ends tied up nicely.

Couldn’t Stop Listening
Revisado: 02-23-24
It’s been a while since I’ve been enthralled in a story like this! I enjoyed the performance of the narrator and was quickly drawn into the characters and the story. It was a quick listen because I was anxious to get to the end to find out the truth behind the mystery. I had my theories, but it wasn’t an obvious ending to pin down. I’m glad I tried a book by this author and will look for another book by her next!

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Enjoyable but Predictable
Revisado: 10-08-23
This was a good in-between read that did keep my interest despite figuring out the “twist” pretty early on. I thought the writing was simple and there wasn’t much character building. Also was not a fan of the way it ended with the characters. I thought it was a little far fetched and lacked emotion.

Hooked Until the Very End!
Revisado: 10-03-23
This book kept me interested from cover to cover! The author did a great job drawing you into the characters and the storyline. I also thought the narrator was fantastic! Despite figuring out a few plot twists along the way, there were definitely some twists I could not have anticipated and the whole thing was quite an epic and satisfying ride. I’m picky about my credits and this one was definitely worth it!

Loved Every Minute
Revisado: 03-01-23
This was such a fun listen. The narration was superb and the storyline kept me hooked from start to finish. There was good character development and you become fully invested in these women and their individual and collective plights. Funny, witty, heartbreaking and deep... this one has it all. I would highly recommend.

Historia
Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne.

Revisado: 02-05-23
Incredible story, incredible voice actors... I could not put this book down. The characters and story truly draw you in. There is so much depth to it, it's hard to believe this band does not exist in real life. I did not want the book to end, but at least I have the new TV series to look forward to. We need MORE of Daisy Jones and the Six!

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Heartwarming Story!
Revisado: 06-22-22
I stumbled across this book accidentally looking for a good vacation read and boy, was it just perfect! It was an easy listen, with a story and characters that draw you in. Both narrators are superb but man, the voice of the octopus is just perfect. I could listen to a whole book from that perspective alone! I recommend this book to anyone looking for a heartfelt story with a little mystery woven throughout. Very enjoyable read!
