Historia
On the evening of November 24, 1971, D. B. Cooper hijacked Flight 305—Portland to Seattle—with a fake bomb, collected a ransom of $200,000, and then parachuted from the rear of the plane, disappearing into the night...and into history. Fifty years later, Agent Pendergast takes on a bizarre and gruesome case: in the ghost-haunted city of Savannah, Georgia, bodies are found with no blood left in their veins—sowing panic and reviving whispered tales of the infamous Savannah Vampire.

Does no one do sound checks?
Revisado: 08-25-21
The narrator ruined this story, as I was constantly having to adjust the sound to the whispery voice of Pendergast to Constance shrilling. Even Daisy in the story was so much louder than Frank. It very much detracted from the story of always having to adjust the sound up and down. Constance sounded like a strident Katherine Hepburn. I would recommended if you want this book do not get audio version of it. Where is Scott Bricks narration when you need him?

X to the rescue
Revisado: 02-05-21
I loved another book about Orphan X and Scott Brick is the best narrator, but I don't like books that keep you hanging. First left hanging when your Evan was picked up by the mystery man and told to take a gun into a store....the cops show up....but then what? And the ending leaves you hanging....I can figure out X used some of his equipment to escape off the balcony but don't like to do that, like a neat ending. Other than that I enjoyed the book

Historia
A startling crime with dozens of victims. Appearing out of nowhere to horrify the quiet resort town of Sanibel Island, Florida, dozens of identical, ordinary-looking shoes float in on the tide and are washed up on the tropical beach—each one with a crudely severed human foot inside.

Disappointed
Revisado: 02-14-20
What happened to the Pendergast we all knew...he has been turned into a regular detective. Miss Di Agosta and he and Pendergast escapades. Also please use Scott Brick as narrator, this one was ok..but was not the "dulcet" "honeyed" tones of Pendergast

Historia
Back when Harry Bosch was just a rookie homicide detective, he had an inspiring mentor who taught him to take the work personally and light the fire of relentlessness for every case. Now that mentor, John Jack Thompson, is dead, but after his funeral his widow hands Bosch a murder book that Thompson took with him when he left the LAPD 20 years before - the unsolved killing of a troubled young man in an alley used for drug deals.

Revisado: 11-06-19
This is the 2nd book have gotten lately on Bosch, to find out he is a secondary character. If I wanted a book about Ballard, then would ask for one. Also Connelly is really aging Harry, and he might die....ugh. I want a story about Bosch, not his friend Ballard. I am saddened I was fooled enough to buy this 2nd book where he is secondary, will not do so in future.

Historia
Who do you trust? Who can you depend on? James Beltz's modern-day gunslinger, known to the rest of us as DJ Slaughter, returns in this thrilling sequel. Book one left us with a massive cliffhanger. Book two serves to answer all of your burning questions in the very first chapter. However, in a sudden, neck-snapping plot twist, you will only be left with more questions. Nice job, James. Very nice job indeed... The first book was a break-neck pace of thrilling adventure, reminding this reviewer of the first season of the Fox TV series "24".

Revisado: 07-21-19
Was so very refreshing to listen to a book, where the author has a good command of the English language that he doesnt need to resort to cursing. A good listen, keep em coming

Historia
After an overhaul of leadership at the FBI's New York field office, A. X. L. Pendergast is abruptly forced to accept an unthinkable condition of continued employment: the famously rogue agent must now work with a partner. Pendergast and his new teammate, junior agent Coldmoon, are assigned to Miami Beach, where a rash of killings by a bloodthirsty psychopath are distinguished by a confounding M.O.: cutting out the hearts of his victims and leaving them - along with cryptic handwritten letters - at local gravestones, unconnected save in one bizarre way.

Good but not up to Pendergast standards
Revisado: 01-02-19
As usual Lincoln and Child did a good book...that being said, am disappointed, as this is not the Pendergast we know....not in this book and not in last one that was done either. Good police detective story but missing Pendergast unusual shenanigans, and have just made him into an ordinary FBI agent with superior intellectual skills. In this book and the last one... the old Pendergast seems gone
Was disappointed by Smithback...thought he was being resurrected, or had maybe just been in hiding in witness protection.
Saving grace in this one....we did not hear much from the lackluster, no personality Constance Greene. Also gone is Digasta.
Miss his personality and would love to see more of Cory Swanson with her fiery personality, along with...never fail to get your attention Diogenis..

Great narrator as to how can do different voices
Revisado: 04-08-18
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Yes some of characters every other word out of their mouth was cursing. Good stories do not need to rely on such filthy language to make a point.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Hawke?
Remembering his parents murder and men who committed it
What does John Shea bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His ability to do different voices, and accents
Could you see Hawke being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
no

Not up to par
Revisado: 01-24-18
Is there anything you would change about this book?
This is not something that strikes me as something Pendergast would do. Gone is his fiery wit, and his assuming command of things in his own lovable Pendergast ways. He seems like an ordinary detective in this one...a subdued one at that. I would change it to the way e used to be
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The least interesting is Pendergast acts like any ordinary detective, I was truly disappointed in this book.
What does Rene Auberjonois bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Rene is an outstanding narrator and only he and Scott Brick are able to do Pendergast in a pleasing southern accent
Do you think City of Endless Night needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
NO. I was so glad Constance was not in this one as her character lacks any pizazz, even when she was running around chasing down Diogeness, she seemed so lackluster and at times snobby..but then got to end of book...and there she is again...
Any additional comments?
Cory Swanson needs to be in another book..I love her personality, and her pushiness

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I always enjoy Mitch Rapp books, but this one didnt seem up to same standards as other ones
What aspect of Scott Brick’s performance would you have changed?
I like Scott Bricks narration, but they should of kept George Guidall as narrator as he is the voice of Mitch Rapp
Do you think Enemy of the State needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I always want more Mitch Rapp books
