Great story and great narration
Revisado: 05-04-23
I don’t understand all the negative comments about the narrator! :( I thought she was brilliant; different voices, clear voice, accents and still understandable, and good pace. Loved the story also and how the author interweaved it so well. Lovely listening!

So much more depth to Antonio’s story that got developed in this book and enjoyable character building. Sophie’s life story was so sad and relatable! I liked these two people coming together in the setting of Tuscany, Italy.

Historia
Nestled into the cliffs in southern Italy's Amalfi coast, Positano is an artist's vision, with rows of brightly hued houses perched above the sea and picturesque staircases meandering up and down the hillside. Santina, still a striking woman despite old age and the illness that saps her last strength, is spending her final days at her home, Villa San Vito. The magnificent 18th-century palazzo is very different from the tiny house in which she grew up. And as she decides its fate, she must confront the choices that led her here so long ago.

It is a life time of a story. It has much of realities of lives of many people interweaved over decades. I enjoyed the words, the visual, suspense, joy, sadness and romance of it.

Historia
Nicola Marter was born with a gift. When she touches an object, she sometimes glimpses those who have owned it before. When a woman arrives with a small wooden carving at the gallery Nicola works at, she can see the object’s history and knows that it was named after the Firebird - the mythical creature from an old Russian fable. Compelled to know more, Nicola follows a young girl named Anna who leads her into the past on a quest through the glittering backdrops of the Jacobites and Russian courts, unearthing a tale of love, courage, and redemption.

I read some not so good reviews of this second book, but I loved it. The author is so clever in how she presents the story and unwinds the mystery of it. I love the style if writing as I enjoyed the book immensely!

One of the best!
Revisado: 10-04-22
I read some poor reviews and I just shook my head! I love the narrators. I thought the male and female narrators did fantastic voices including all the emotions portrayed in the narration. I loved this book. I enjoyed the contemporary story in Florida as well as the mundane/laid back country living of hard farm life. Yet… those two lives collided and the interweaving of two different lives didn’t disappoint. I also enjoyed listening to the 2 separate stories. At first I was confused as to how they were related, but the truth is eventually revealed! It’s worth the wait. I don’t like sad endings and so this book is a thumbs up from me!

Great narration!
Revisado: 05-05-22
I read many negative reviews about the narrator. I have to disagree on this point! It’s funny how we all have such differing opinions. I listen to lots of audibles and I have heard great and not so great narrators. This narrator did a great job! I know the foreign accent is hard but I felt that, that’s what made the story so realistic. Audible is the movie in your mind and this audio book definitely transported me to those times in the story. Thanks for the story and the narration.

Historia
As a lady's companion, Clara Hartwright never receives much attention from anyone. And that's precisely how she likes it. With a stormy past, and an unconventional plan for her future, it's far safer to remain invisible. But when her new employer is invited to a monthlong holiday at a remote coastal abbey, Clara discovers that she may not be as invisible as she'd hoped. At least, not as far as one gentleman is concerned.

I didn’t know the story was Korean culture related. When I started listening to the stories of different foods and culture oddities/quarks, I couldn’t help my self... I was grinning! It was well written and entertaining. I loved it so much, I shared the book with my grown up daughters. Thank you for the story.

Interesting but a sad ending
Revisado: 02-20-20
I did enjoy this book because it was pretty well developed. The main character was the Captain Hook, of how he started out as an ordinary person to becoming Hook. I thought the story followed most of the details of the Disney story of Peter pan except for the background of Hook and how he came to be known as Hook. The story at the end became dark and ended with sad twist. I don't want to mention what that is so as not to spoil the story. However, I didn't like it. I understand that a bit of realism is good for the story, but this is a fairy tale afterall. I like happy endings. Brad Wills always performs well and this was no exception. Love all the voices of Brad Wills.
