Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Wow. I'm stunned.
Revisado: 02-26-24
I wasn't sure what to expect with this book. I bought it because I agreed with the title. I thought, hey, let's see how our stories compare. As if. Miss McCurdy nareated her own story in an unflinching reveal, from the guts up. As in the text, I felt a lot of conflicting emotions in listening. there are a few times when I wasn't sure I could go on. However, I stuck with it--and with her. And, in the end, I was actually only hoping for it to continue.

Compelling and Accessible
Revisado: 02-20-24
Jessica isn't a typical narrator. however, she's perfect for this subject matter, and I'm glad she narrated her own book. Her personality shines through, as she talks to you on a personal level, as if you are a friend. It makes the subject matter compelling and accessible. The book is organized well, and I love the toolbox sections of each chapter which contain helpful strategies shared by others for various circumstances. Highly recommended. I've already listened to it at least three times.

Great narration. Authoritative and expressive.
Revisado: 11-29-22
When I bought the audiobook, I thought it was the original classic. However, it seems to be something of an update unless Stevie Wonder was alive in the 1930s. Regardless, it's a great book, and I would stick with this narrator.

Historia
Like nearly one in five people, Matt Haig suffers from depression. Reasons to Stay Alive is his inspiring account of how, minute by minute and day by day, he overcame the disease with the help of reading, writing, and the love of his parents and his girlfriend (now wife), Andrea. And eventually, he learned to appreciate life all the more for it. Everyone's lives are touched by mental illness; if we do not suffer from it ourselves, then we have a friend or loved one who does.

Wow. Meaningful Heartfelt Expressions.
Revisado: 05-07-22
Matt Haig draws you into his world as he shares his experiences and insights into a life with depression and anxiety. It's unlike any other book in the genre, (or mix of genres) which he interweaves in this satisfying compilation of thoughts. I'm glad I chose the audio. It's made this experience more meaningful.
