Beautiful Marion Reflections from an Orthodox perspective. I appreciated walking with Mary and Brandi as she drew closer to Mary in all of aspects of her life. Sharing her doubts and struggles with her pregnancy increased my trust and faith in Jesus and power of being close to Mary.

This a straightforward story but beautifully told about a man who has a terminal illness but is given an extra day if he eliminates one thing from the world completely. As one can tell from the title a decision will have to be made in regards to his beloved Cat named cabbage. Along the way he sees how we are attached "things" and yet those things can enhance our lives. Ultimately he sees the beauty of life is love and how we relate love to others. The cat is a true delight throughout the story and teaches him wisdom in his own dignified way, Also one can never delight in the devil but here he does bring humor. Great narration by Brian Nishi. Highly recommended .

I have seen Jackson Galaxy through the years on his show "My Cat From Hell' but have renewed interest in him and his advice on cats as Im a cat daddy for the first time. Jackson takes us through his life where he fights his personal demons and addictions, At the same time he has a heart so open to help our furry friends especially cats. The highpoint is his journey with his cat Benny who is with him throughout his troubled years in Colorado and on to his new life in California. Our fur buddies can teach us so much on the beauty of life in the moment and having to let go of that magic. Also included of course is excellent advice on cat behavior. One of the best listens of the year. Highly recommended.

A Damn Near Perfect Game is part biography and part a look at the game through the eyes of the fiery relief pitcher Kelly. Kelly does an outstanding job in describing the beauty and timeless aspects of the game. Full of stories from his childhood all the way to explaining how he obtained the mariachi jacket that he wore to the White House. Somewhat of a surprise is that JK is all for making the game more adaptable to today's fans. Quicker pace and players showing their personality on the field. All in all a delight for this 65 year old Dodger fan who will perhaps look at the changes in the game with a more open attitude. Ganser does an outstanding job as the narrator. Highly recommended if you love the "damn near perfect game"

I have been familiar with Jennifer Fulwiler for quite a few years.primarily by hearing about this book. I also have seen videos of her standup comedy and listened to her podcasts. She is a married middle age woman with a large family living in Texas. Fulwiler has an honest, true delivery in her comedy and writing. This book is her story of her journey from atheism to Catholicism. One of the key points in her journey of faith is that God is not a concept but a person found Jesus Christ.
From her childhood raised in an essentially non-religous household she stood her ground as an atheist even among her young friends. At one time she even mocks Jesus on the cross. The turning point is the coincidence or divine providence of seeing CS Lewis’s book Mere Christianity. She buys it and starts to make an impact in the fact that Christianity can be logical and make sense.
Thorough her difficult pregancy she deals with the abortion question and ultimately sees the beauty and truth of no sex outside of marriage and the power of Catholic truth.
She joins RCIA along with husband and has a positive experience, especially with the powerful testimony of the RICA director. She ultimately enters the Church. Throughout she is assisted and helped by believers and non believers realizing God’s stamp in everything. The rosary is also an enlightening point into the person of Christ when she sees the crucifixion through the eyes of Mary.
A wonderful funny, touching journey of faith. It was a delight to hear it read by the author.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. The story is set in a post apocalyptic earth. People now belong to Guilds the main character is a Watcher who searches the heavens in a unique way for invaders. Hid companion is a Flyer and a gross deformed Changeling. The are on the way to Rome. The story unfolds quite well with themes of what gives are life value. How we value "life" and the consequences of not valuing it. Ultimately it a beautiful story of love and redemption. Well read especially once i got past his voicing of The Flyer.

A wonderful bio written by his widow Maxine Gordon. From his Los Angeles roots and a father who was a well regarded physician to the early LA scene its all there. Maxine does an excellent job in filling in Dexter's life in the fifties (a decade he did not want to talk about) with some help by the late tenor sax man Hadley Caliman. A surprise from the read is how many did not think he could make a successful come back after his time in Europe. Well read, well performed by all involved . Listening to Gordon's album Doin Alright as I write this and hearing the book brings me a bit closer to these classic jazz performances and The Sophisticated Giant Long Tall Dex,

This is my first exposure to Emma. I believe I read Sense and Sensibility many years ago. The self proclaimed match maker Emma learns and grows through her interactions and often reading the room wrong. The story was well read by Jenny Agutter who had enough voices to differentiate the characters quite well. Great reintroduction to the world of Jane Austen that I highly recommend.

Excellent insight into the world of young Parker in Kansas City. His complex relationships with his mother and young wife Rebecca. The influence of the Kansas City music scene and people like Buster Smith. Crouch does an excellent job in bringing one into Bird’s world. Reading is top notch.
