Historia
Marnie MacGraw wants an ordinary life - a husband, kids, and a minivan in the suburbs. Now that she’s marrying the man of her dreams, she’s sure this is the life she’ll get. Then Marnie meets Blix Holliday, her fiancé’s irascible matchmaking great-aunt who’s dying, and everything changes - just as Blix told her it would. When her marriage ends after two miserable weeks, Marnie is understandably shocked.

A good light listen
Revisado: 01-10-20
I really enjoyed the book. I do however agree with a couple of reviews that the 3 love interests, and the timeline was a little too ridiculous but I think it was somewhat needed for the ending.
Blix reminded me so much of some special elders in my life and the reflection of reminding me to actually listen to their stories and advice (of course not always take it.) I did get triggered/ stressed during some of the parts of Blix's family's rude behavior & consistent undermining of her life choices as a grown woman. I think it was very much relatable which means kudos to the author for really putting that perspective out there.
The hardest thing for me in the book is the cluelessness of the main character, I don't really enjoy when women are constantly portrayed as "marriage/ relationship" is the only thing that will make someone whole. But of course this is a romantic light read - but just then man, to man, to man thing to be fulfilled was a little much.
Overall, I really would recommend the book. It had an array of characters that brought so much life to the book and helped move the main character along. I would give it a 3 1/2 stars but since that is not an option I will go with 4.

Historia
Since she was nine years old, Alina Dziak knew she would marry her best friend, Tomasz. Now 15 and engaged, Alina is unconcerned by reports of Nazi soldiers at the Polish border, believing her neighbors that they pose no real threat, and dreams instead of the day Tomasz returns from college in Warsaw so they can be married. But little by little, injustice by brutal injustice, the Nazi occupation takes hold, and Alina’s tiny rural village, its families, are divided by fear and hate. Then, as the fabric of their lives is slowly picked apart, Tomasz disappears.

One of the best WW2 Historical Fiction Books
Revisado: 11-06-19
I will be honest, as much as I am rating this is 5 stars for overall feel. As others have mentioned the story takes place over two story lines. It was a little dull on some ends of the "present day" story line. But it was so beneficial to overall connect all the story.
I really recommend this book. And I urge you to listen. While listening, keep saying "Never again". In honor of those who were lost during WW2 and even in present day wars.
I smiled, I laughed. I felt the love the author had for this story and so many like this. I cried. I was angry.
