Would you try another book from Josh Lanyon and/or Gary Furlong?

Of course, I have found I can never pass by anything Lanyon writes - its always enjoyable. Gary Furlong is new to me and he did a good job I could easily tell which character was talking.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

No it was fine as is. It was just what I wanted - an escapist light read.

Which character – as performed by Gary Furlong – was your favorite?

Carter

Was Murder Takes the High Road worth the listening time?

Yes, it was.

Any additional comments?

This was, as I said, a light read and it was fun. It seemed to be a cross of And Then There Were None and If Its Tuesday It Must Be Belgium - cute.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Not really. Just too long and it seemed to take forever for any action to move the story forward.

Would you recommend His Mossy Boy [Being(s) in Love] to your friends? Why or why not?

You just asked that question above.

Have you listened to any of Christopher Patton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Chris Patton is a fantastic narrator but I don't think he was a good choice for this book.

Did His Mossy Boy [Being(s) in Love] inspire you to do anything?

Fall asleep I'm afraid.

Any additional comments?

Its such a shame. I wanted to like this mostly because of Chris Patton. And its a shame I would've rather have heard him narrate the final (?) Adrien English story - So This is Christmas because while Kale Williams did a good job with the Monet Murder series you couldn't tell who he was speaking for in the Adrien English story. I finally gave up and I finally gave up with the Mossy Boy story. Wish I could've switched the narrators to the other book and I think things would've been much better.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. Probably not their cup of tea.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I enjoyed the story.

What didn’t you like about Kale Williams’s performance?

I had to give up listening to the book (since I already read the book, and enjoyed that very much) because I couldn't tell who was speaking. There was no difference between Adrien and Jake (however, I know the characters so well I could surmise who was speaking but it ruined the listening experience to the point I saw no point continuing). Well, at least when I read the book I can "hear" Chris Patton speaking.

Did So This Is Christmas inspire you to do anything?

Not listen to any more Kale Williams recordings. He's a "reader."

Would you listen to Dangerous Ground again? Why?

I do listen to this series all the time. I seem to re-listen to my favorites in a bit of a cycle.

What other book might you compare Dangerous Ground to and why?

Probably the Cut and Run series with Ty and Zane.

What about Adrian Bisson’s performance did you like?

He does very well with the voices of Will and Taylor - they are distinct and likeable. Perfect for each character. Some of the side characters (in the series) don't come off too well (like Will's brother) but he captures the two MCs perfectly. (I just bought Point Blank and I'm interested in comparing the two narrators).

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I didn't have the time to do that but listen to it day after day when I had time.

Any additional comments?

Adrian Bisson is not my favorite narrator but I've heard the whole series and I think he did a fine job for the two leads.

Real Vampires Turn You Every Which Way But Loose

If you could sum up Real Vampires Take No Prisoners in three words, what would they be?

A wild ride.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Real Vampires Take No Prisoners?

When Matheus and Quin FINALLY get together after one hell of a slow burn.

What does James Patrick Cronin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Well, you can't blame a guy but his voice was a little different for the third book. I get the impression he did the first two books one right after the other. At first I didn't like his take on Quin in the first two books but I came to love (adore it) and as for Matheus he was so totally spot on. The third book, it was like he was trying to remember what they sounded like and Matheus sounded so much harder, losing his boyish voice. Even Alistair was a tad different but his secondary characters were the same and very good. He did the female voices extremely well and I only know of one other narrator who has that knack. I wish Mr. Cronin did more m/m books because he is simply wonderful. He does snark so well!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I'm not gay! Well maybe I'm gay...ok I'm gay.

That's Matheus. It was a real arc for Matheus and learning who he really was. (And how strong he really was.)

Any additional comments?

This is has been one of my FAVORITE books. I have laughed, chuckled and there are some beautiful moments captured, some real truths - all beautifully done. The cruelty of the laboratory scenes really horrified me - and it goes on every day here in America - not with vampires but with animals. Also the cruelty that Matheus endures really got to me (but then Quin took care of that in the first book...gotta love the guy). Killed me when Matheus was attacked with baseball bats by some goons in the first book and when Quin saved him saying - I'm here love. - or words to that effect. Ahhhhhhhhh romance. The author is fabulous.

What made the experience of listening to Who We Are the most enjoyable?

Well, while I preferred Sean Crisden's spot-on take on the voices I could see where Charlie David actually excelled at times.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bear. This is where Charlie David did a great job with Bear's runaway thoughts.

What about Charlie David’s performance did you like?

I think he made the "dinner scene" one of THE funniest parts of any book I've ever heard. I played that scene over and over to hear Charlie's mortified laughter - downright hysterics - as to what is slipping out of Bear's mouth. If he wasn't having a good time performing that scene then I don't know what. I love to hear a narrator laugh when the page just says "he laughs." He's one of the few who does this, Greg Tremblay as Cole McGuinnes comes close.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh, cry - I ran the gamut with this book. And sometimes I got annoyed with all of Bear's busy thoughts - was ready to hand him a valium - or take one myself - but then he wouldn't be Bear.

Any additional comments?

And I'm sure I'm one of the few but I detest the character of "the kid." And to me, its a shame he's the lynchpin of the books but I get it - with no him there would be no Bear. Very few writers write a kid very well - the only one who does IMO is Nick Wilgus - he listens and he hears what a true kid is all about (and is still interesting). His little boys just break my heart and bring me joy. "The kid?"...well, he's what's keeping me from reading/listening to the third book - its all about him.

What would have made When the Dust Settles better?

I adore Sean Crisden (the first two installments with him narrating are absolutely sublime), but for whatever reason he started off the book like he was in a race for time. I even had to stop the book and double check it was him narrating.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Probably Josh Lanyon's "So This is Christmas" when it comes out.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Like I said, Sean Crisden is usually spot on but he started out like he was reading a phone directory and that is so not his usual style. He is usually a performance artist - but not for this book.

What character would you cut from When the Dust Settles?

Sounds strange, but I'd cut out Stef and Rand - they are so much on the periphery in this story I would rather have had a book 3 on the two of them and their baby - felt like I was missing a lot of stuff. I never liked Glenn so this book really didn't interest me to begin with and that Mac was gay...I dunno, there was no lead up to that in the other two stories.

Any additional comments?

Just wish the narrator had slowed it down.

Would you listen to Try again? Why?

I've listened to it many times. Its a great story - predator (Logan) and prey (Tate)...but Tate ends up turning the tables on Logan.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Logan. Because for all his strengths it was actually Tate who was stronger. But they are beautifully matched.

Which character – as performed by Shannon Gunn – was your favorite?

Logan - pitch perfect voice.

If you could rename Try, what would you call it?

Try is perfect. Can't top it...no pun intended.

Any additional comments?

Try and Take (Book 1 & 2) are about the best love stories going. They are wonderful. I think I'll listen to it again!

Revisado: 07-07-16

Would you consider the audio edition of Control to be better than the print version?

Only because its Greg Tremblay doing the narrating. This is one of his best works and if you aren't aroused, moved, or dying laughing - whatever - you are made of stone. He went above and beyond with this one.

What other book might you compare Control to and why?

Timing, Sunset, A Matter of Time - so many of both Cardeno C's and Mary Calmes works - too much to choose from.

Which character – as performed by Greg Tremblay – was your favorite?

Vy - or as Robert called him affectionately "Little Bird" - cracked me up

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Vy is so upset that Robert doesn't know he's his mate.

Any additional comments?

Just so many great scenes. One of the funniest is Robert trying to deal with one of the kids - who has hero worship issues going with Robert. When the kid shows up Robert has to do this "no you don't" "no you aren't" sing song voice that is just so funny.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, its one of those little gems you're so happy to discover.

What did you like best about this story?

Loved the two MCs and I have to tell you I don't laugh much when reading but I had a smile on my face through so much of it - made me feel good.

Have you listened to any of Peter B. Brooke’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, I haven't but he did a very good job on the voices - loved Romey's (sp?).

Who was the most memorable character of Serendipity Kit and why?

Kit of course. He was the life of the party...or in this case, story. He is such a sweetheart...but naughty, too.
