Historia
The Battle of Serenity Valley was the turning point that led the Independents to their defeat at the hands of the Alliance. Yet the Browncoats had held the valley for weeks against all odds, before being ordered to lay down their arms. Command stated they refused to send in airpower because the ground war was "too hot". But the soldiers who were there insist that was not true.... While picking up a new cargo on Persephone, Captain Malcolm Reynolds is kidnapped by a bunch of embittered veteran Browncoats who suspect him of sabotaging the Independents during the war.

Worth the read

This fills the hole left in my soul from them canceling Firefly after only one season. Plan to listen to the rest next.

Historia
The plucky “titian-haired” sleuth solved her first mystery in 1930 - and eighty million books later, Nancy Drew has survived the Depression, World War II, and the sixties (when she was taken up with a vengeance by women’s libbers) to enter the pantheon of American culture. As beloved by girls today as she was by their grandmothers, Nancy Drew has both inspired and reflected the changes in her readers’ lives. Here, in a narrative with all the page-turning pace of Nancy’s adventures, Melanie Rehak solves an enduring literary mystery: Who created Nancy Drew?

Interesting for Nancy Drew Fans
Revisado: 06-17-21
While I typically enjoy when an author narrates their own work for audible I struggled a bit with Rehak's slower cadence and lack of inflections. I did love all of the historical context and explanation of the publishing world. I also had no idea of the legal trials which occured in later year. Worth the read.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Worth the read, but repetitive.
Revisado: 06-05-21
Becomes a bit repetitive as the story moves on. Has some shocking stories. The end has a few strange bunny trails. Overall interesting, but ould have been four chapters shorter.

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Interesting Concept, somewhat predictable ending.
Revisado: 05-28-21
This book does a great job of making you reflect on your own life and decisions. The ending was a tad predictable, but really was the best way to end the book in my opinion.

Historia
In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

Fantastic read!
Revisado: 07-07-17
There is still so much more to this book even if you have already seen the movie. I feel like the directors did a good job of capturing the characters in the movie, but I loved reading more about Celia Foote's story. I had always been curious about her after the movie and was very pleased to find more about her in the book.

While there is a pretty great twist at the end...
Revisado: 02-04-17
The book becomes a bit repetitive in wording and predictable in the middle. The final twist was pretty good, but ai think we could have gotten to that point a bit quicker.
