Better the second... third... fourth time!

So I read the print copy years and years ago, reread again and again, and have now completed the audiobook. I must say I'm more impressed each time. Hearing the voice performance added a nuance that I missed before. I thoroughly enjoyed it, for new reasons! The only drawback is that the pacing sometimes drags, and the ending is abrupt, but the attention to details, myriad of interesting and realistic characters, and feel of a military campaign still shine through.

The reading is top notch, but the story doesn't quite satisfy. There are grumblings of cultural appropriation, and I was hopeful for a more accurate portrayal of Diné belief systems.

I first knew of JMS from the TV series "Babylon 5". I always enjoyed his writing, and expanded on my knowledge of his creative outlets. To now read of his life, and his journey to becoming a writer and creator that I admire greatly, I am amazed. We all have conflicts in our life journey, but to hear his path and how he overcame... I was even more impressed. Like the title, JMS rose from humble background, and in my eyes, soars through the air with his writing.
This is a biography for anyone who has ever read his work, seen his shows, heard him talk... to know how he got there, and why he always fought to bring us those wonderful stories.
