Historia
Shari Franke’s childhood was a constant battle for survival. Her mother, Ruby Franke, enforced a severe moral code while maintaining a façade of a picture-perfect family for their wildly popular YouTube channel 8 Passengers, which documented the day-to-day life of raising six children for a staggering 2.5 million subscribers. But a darker truth lurked beneath the surface – Ruby’s wholesome online persona masked a more tyrannical parenting style than anyone could have imagined.

This story shook me - well done Shari

I had never watched the youtube channel but I remember seeing the story about an emaciated young boy asking for help from a neighbour somewhere in America. The story that unfolded was horrific and terribly sad, I watched the documentary and then I wanted to hear from one of the kids - this book felt like Shari was opening her heart to strangers once again, I sincerely hope it helped her to heal because the level of vulnerability this took must have made her feel so exposed. Thank you Shari for your transparency when the world has already been awarded a view of you and your family that should never have been shown. You have paid a price far above that of a normal young girl and I wish you only healing, love and happiness in life.
