If you like time travel and considering the paradoxical issues it creates, this is a well written story on the topic, but I don’t recommend listening while you’re focused on other things or you’ll find yourself rewinding and trying to figure out what happened several times like I did

If you’re like me and often have audio books on in the background when you’re going about your day, this works. It doesn’t have a depth that I like for really getting into a story and I found myself often irritated and frustrated with Sid who tends to be immature and unwilling to listen or follow the direction of people who clearly know more about what is going on.

Kept listening and waiting for it to go somewhere. I would have liked to like it, some of the characters are likable, but the main characters didn’t seem to figure things out even when it was obvious to me.

What would have made Exiles at the Well of Souls better?

It is half a story at best. It was slower moving than book 1 and did not resolve in any way. I feel like it is just setting up for the "real story," but I am not overly motivated to get the next book at this point.

Would you recommend Exiles at the Well of Souls to your friends? Why or why not?

No. I like the narration and the main character is well developed, but not worth the time at this time. If I read book 3, and it pulls this together, I may need to change my review, but at this time I am not motivated to continue the series.

Which character – as performed by Peter Macon – was your favorite?

Mavra Chang (protagonist) and Trellig (Antagonist) were both well performed. I enjoy him as a narrator. He has a deep and masculine voice, but changes with characters and does female characters convincingly with no trouble. I will look for him as a narrator in the future.

What character would you cut from Exiles at the Well of Souls?

None

Would you try another book from J.A. Howell and/or Rachel Siegel?

Possibly.

Has Possess turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

Any additional comments?

Not a bad read from the standpoint of a murder mystery, but the title and cover art suggested to me to expect it to fall more into the category of good and evil, demon possession, etc. The book contained none of that, but had me waiting for it until the end.
