Just soft core porn...
Revisado: 11-22-22
The story wasn't original. It's been done so many times before. "Hit the ground and burst into flames." What? Shooting up Stone Mountain and no one noticed. With all the 5 star reviews, I was expecting better than a honey-colored succubus that no man can resist with her chicken & waffles good enough to make you slap your mama...and big juicy titties so filled with milk a grown man can't help but suckle. 🤣 Really, this was just soft core porn.

Boring and predictable with a bunch of silly sexual tension. This story has been told a hundred times already.

Boring...More like Hide & Sleep.😴

The story was BORING. The narrator was BORING. It would be better packaged and sold at the pharmacy as a sleep aid.

Formula
Revisado: 03-03-17
This author has a formula and he's sticking to it. This is the third series where the main character is this perfectly flawed female detective. He has taken the typical macho man and given him breast. I feel like I only read half of the book because the story is so one dimensional. The killer is just a shadow. Like the boogie man that everyone talks about but no one sees. The narrator is horrible because her british accent is all wrong for the story. They're in Boston MA for Pete's sake! This is the same narrator from the other series as well, all set in the United States. I got these books on sale, so there you have it...

BORING
Revisado: 02-17-17
Boring and predictable. The narrator's voice was too child-like. The story read like a high school creative writing assignment. This book gets a C-.

This was not a thriller
Revisado: 02-07-17
I wanted to like this book and it was ok, just ok. I have 3 issues with this book. The first is the narrator...WHY IS SHE BRITISH! The story is set in America, the midwest no doubt. The british accent is annoying and distracting. The main character is boring and cookie cutter. I've read a couple other books by this author and it's the same character, different name. Even the same inappropriate narrator. The killer can be compared to Yo Sammity Sam from a Bugs Bunny cartoon. He is about as menacing as Yo Sammity cutting up carrots and celery in a huge pot to cook Bugs in. Clearly the author has a formula and doesn't think it's necessary to stray from it.

Historia
A former Medal of Valor winner, Minnesota detective Alexander Rupert is now under subpoena by a grand jury on suspicion of corruption. So when he's asked to look into the false identity of a car-accident victim named James Putnam, a man who in fact died 15 years earlier, Rupert sees a potentially big case and an opportunity to regain his respectability. But the investigation puts him in the path of "the Beast", the nom de guerre of Drago Basta, a cunning veteran of the Balkan wars.

Actions of the bad guys never make sense.
Revisado: 11-28-16
For once I would like for the bad guy to just skip town. Don't try to kill everyone in sight and leave a trail of dead bodies back to himself. Just quit while he's ahead. Then you have to wonder about detectives that don't seem to take any notice of their surroundings. Or blab everything about an open investigation to someone that he isn't even sure is involved. And since when can "voicemails" be heard while being left. That part really got on my nerves because the author was already on overkill with the video surveillance then he just totally mixes up the technology? On top of the fact that that "voicemail" contained way too much information. If the assassin ( I use the term loosely) was smart, he could have just waited until they were all together and blown up the building since he wasn't the slightest bit concerned about discretion. The story was okay but I liked the first book better.

In this garden grow luscious flowers, shady trees...and a collection of precious “butterflies” - young women who have been kidnapped and intricately tattooed to resemble their namesakes. Overseeing it all is the Gardener, a brutal, twisted man obsessed with capturing and preserving his lovely specimens.
