Historia
Nobody would've figured the kids from the sleepy beach town of Coronado, California, for criminal masterminds. They were just some hippie surfers, high school friends who'd come up with the idea of swimming bundles of marijuana across the border from Tijuana during the summer of 1969. Within a decade, however, the Coronado Company had become the largest pot-smuggling operation on the West Coast, a $100 million empire with outposts from Mexico to Morocco to Thailand.

Crime pays
Revisado: 05-25-16
Brett Gelman (the reader) has a sexy-surfer voice but I wish I'd had a hard copy of the book as I found it hard to keep everyone straight. I don't know if this was a long article for a periodical but it reads like one. In the end...crime pays (if you're willing to do a bit of time) and that's kinda sad.

Historia
On March 24, 2015, Germanwings Flight 9525 crashed into the French Alps. All 144 passengers and six crew members were killed. In the ensuing days, a picture of the flight's harrowing final moments began to emerge. Shortly after reaching cruise altitude, a 27-year-old first officer named Andreas Lubitz locked the captain out of the cockpit, took control of the plane, and deliberately caused its descent.

It doesn't need to be long to be great. Jeff Wise is an excellent writer who could have a career in narration.

Historia
Scott Miller knows there's something special about Maria Chavez the first time he sees her. A first kiss goes sour, but he gets a second chance when he takes her to the senior prom. Love isn't in the cards - at least not yet - as they leave early in his 1972 Cutlass Supreme. Thirty six years pass, 32 of them with Miller married to another woman. This isn't love. At least, it's not what he desires. Life itself seems empty - until he receives an email from an old flame.

It's His Story
Revisado: 05-18-16
Love found. Love lost. Love found. Love lost. End of story. The author reads the audiobook so it's difficult to say he's over dramatic because it's the way he feels. You can't judge feelings but sometimes it's difficult to listen to the way people express them. Between the two of them they have six adult children who basically have nothing to do with them as a couple. I'd love to hear that story. He has a very open Facebook page...and clearly he's over it all...and it's barely been a year. He's a pretty narcissistic guy...and therein may lie the issues with the fam. I wish I'd come across a Readers Digest version...but I'll gladly read the story of why their offspring wasn't supportive...He thinks George Clooney should play him in the movie version of his book. Good luck with that.

Historia
Luke Richardson has returned home after burying Natalie, his beloved wife of sixteen years, ready to face the hard job of raising their three children alone. But there's something he's not prepared for - a blue envelope with his name scrawled across the front in Natalie's handwriting, waiting for him on the floor of their suburban Michigan home.

Hang in there...
Revisado: 04-30-16
The author writes in a 21st century version of the verbose manner of 19th century authors. I wanted to say "MOVE ALONG" more than once. One problem is the protagonist is an idiot (and not very likable...yet he has women lined up so it's difficult to have admiration for these women) so it may not be easy to hang in to the end. (I actually figured out "the secret" the minute the character was introduced.) Despite the implausibility of the HOW...there is resolution. There is only one plot (great writers are able to layer subplots). The saving grace was that it does come to an end...because it could have continued. If you enjoy a soap opera with a series finale, you're going to love this book.

Historia
This true story begins on a sunny morning in 2003, just before the Fourth of July, outside of Flint Michigan, when an 80-year-old grandmother has mysteriously disappeared from the face of the Earth. She was my mother. Three days after she disappeared, the charred remains of her new car were identified, after being completely destroyed by an intentional fire; but she was nowhere to be found.

A Work of Catharsis
Revisado: 04-01-16
Compelling tragic story represented by the victim's son on behalf of his mother's family. The book lacks an editor who understands the skill set required for that job.
