Historia
On the morning after Harry Cline’s funeral, a rare ice storm hits the town of Wesleyan, Georgia. The community wakes up to find its controversial statue of Confederate general Henry Benning destroyed—and not by the weather. Half the town had wanted to remove the statue; the other half had wanted to preserve it. Now that the matter has been taken out of their hands, the town’s long-simmering tensions are laid bare. When the Moon Turns Blue is a timely novel about family, friendship, and what can happen when we discover that we don’t particularly like the people we love.

It doesn't take long for Jillian to realize nothing is quite the way she remembers.

annoying and depressing at first

but stick with it. The story builds on itself. The narration is excellent and perfectly suits what's happening in the story.

the narration destroyed the story for me
Revisado: 02-07-22
the premise of this book is farfetched and , in my mind, is only possible if you have an extremely stupid and gullible main character. that, coupled with the narration, destroyed thus book for me. I LOVED the first book in this series, but these characters were far less likeable when given voice by this narrator. I am very disappointed.

In this heartwarming, suspenseful, and hilarious novel, Callahan Garrity and the outrageous band of "girls" in her Atlanta cleaning crew join together during the Christmas rush to prove that her trailer-trash brother didn't kill his even trashier estranged wife.
It's a few days before Christmas, and sometime sleuth/full-time cleaning lady Callahan Garrity has things under control for a change, until her never-do-well brother, Brian, shows up.

poorly developed characters, awful narration
Revisado: 10-13-21
the narrator has a lovely voice. it sounds like she's smiling. when she attempts to use different voices for the various characters they sound very much alike. it would have been better for her not to try to use accents or speak in more than one voice. it was so poorly done that it took center stage and I found it highly annoying.
this is the first book I've listened to by this author and I won't listen to another. the characters are poorly developed and boring. it's full of stereotypes. the author uses details that are not worth mentioning "I put on a black pair of pants and a black shirt." who cares. why is it relevant? "he drove a 1996 Honda civic." it's like she knew details were necessary, but doesn't know how to use them or make them interesting.

I liked the story. but Susan Wiggs dialog is similar in every book of hers I've read. I'm beginning to get bored. She also uses the same narrators so theres a sense of listening to the same book over and over.

At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves.
