Great historical fiction....

I learned a lot about this portion of U.S. history that I was completely ignorant about. The author did a great job of showing and not telling as she gave an account of this history in narrative form. I would encourage everyone to read this book.

This is the best course I have taken in this series. This professor exposed me to breath and depth of African history that was foreign to me. As a Black-American I am deeply grateful to everyone who played a role in the execution of this course.

Africa is the continent where the first humans were born. They explored the vast land and produced the first tools. And although we migrated from that continent, we never completely abandoned it. From the beginning of time, humans lived and worked in Africa, leaving evidence of their existence in the sands of the Sahara Desert and the valleys of the great rivers such as the Nile and the Niger.

A wealth of information about African history
Revisado: 02-20-21
I bought this audiobook to get a better understanding of the rich history of Africa/Africans, and as a default African-Americans, BEFORE slavery took place. Our history does not start at slavery but from a much culturally richer place. This book fulfilled my desire to know in a more robust way the richness of our culture. I recommend that everyone read and learn from this book.

A good book
Revisado: 02-19-21
I stumbled upon this book and the title captured my attention. Overall, it is a really good book. By that I mean, the storyline is good as well as the narration. I felt like I invested my time well in listening to this book. It also provided my imagination with a vision to chew on in regards to how those African-Americans might have felt- and what they potentially experienced- that decided to pass as white. What depth and breadth of internalized racism and race hatred those negroes had to have had to engage in such a deplorable activity.

Historia
In Mighty Justice, trailblazing African American civil rights attorney Dovey Johnson Roundtree recounts her inspiring life story that speaks movingly and urgently to our racially troubled times. From the streets of Charlotte, North Carolina, to the segregated courtrooms of the nation’s capital; from the male stronghold of the army where she broke gender and color barriers to the pulpits of churches where women had waited for years for the right to minister - in all these places, Dovey Johnson Roundtree sought justice.

This book is AMAZING!!! I never heard of Ms. Roundtree. This book was recommended to me by Audibles algorithms based on my past reading selection. I almost didn't buy this book but I am ELATED that I did. I have more than 70 books on Audible and I have listened to all of them in full. This is the only book, and I love 90%of my book collection, were I was sad that it was ending. The narrator was EXCEPTIONAL. She made me feel like I was a stranger walking with Ms. Roundtree throughout her life. Ms. Roundtree lived a great life of purpose. It is a shame that she hasn't recieved the notoriety she deserves. If you are on the fence about getting this book please get off the fence, buy and listen to this book. You will be very grateful that you did.

Historia
Hailed as the most masterful story ever told of the American civil rights movement, Parting the Waters is destined to endure for generations. Moving from the fiery political baptism of Martin Luther King, Jr., to the corridors of Camelot where the Kennedy brothers weighed demands for justice against the deceptions of J. Edgar Hoover, here is a vivid tapestry of America, torn and finally transformed by a revolutionary struggle unequaled since the Civil War.
