Gut wrenching, but unable to stop listening

Another’s pain, especially a child’s is hard to hear. Jeanettes candid, wry and honest account of her upbringing and recovery from abuse, is brave, and I hope for her healing.
It’s a compelling listen, especially as read by author, and the dark humour makes the story bearable for the listener. I dont know how Jeanette survived, but I’m very glad she did.

So, here is the thing: is it just me or does anyone else find that adulthood offers no refuge from the unexpected horrors, peculiar lack of physical coordination and sometimes unexplained nudity, that accompanied childhood and adolescence? I am proud to say I have a wealth of awkward experiences - from school days to life as an office temp - and here I offer my 18-year-old self (and I hope you, too, dear listener) some much needed caution and guidance on how to navigate life's rocky path.

It really is just her! Funny and engaging.

Obvious answer here I would think!
What does Miranda Hart bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
If I was reading this I would hear it in Miranda's voice, but the reality is better!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It was, but I did it in bite sizes.

I don't think this is the 'real' Miranda, the book is more fiction feeling than reality - but thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless.

What did you like about this audiobook?
Loved the narrators, so engaging. This book interrupted my life as I had to listen at every opportunity.
How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?
Generally I stick to non fiction, but this book as reignited my enthusiasm for quality fiction.
Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?
Beautifully written - some colorful language - but in keeping with the characters. Otherwise great writing, and neatly woven together strands of narrative. Kept me on the edge of my seat.
What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?
Could not fault narrators performances whatsoever.
Do you have any additional comments?
Such a great book - surprising twists, even after 19 plus hours I did not want this to end.

What would have made Marrying the Mistress better?
I personally didn't enjoy the narrator of this title - I don't know if it was her inflection, or the writing, but I thought the characters were on the whole awful people.
Would you ever listen to anything by Joanna Trollope again?
I've previously really enjoyed all of the previous Trollope books - would consider another one.
How could the performance have been better?
Different narrator definitely.
What character would you cut from Marrying the Mistress?
The daughters Rachel and Emma - horrible girls, spoilt.

Just overall completely unimpressed.

Would you listen to Drop Dead Healthy again? Why?
I loved the relaxed conversational style of the author and narrator. There is something special when an author reads his/her own work. AJ Jacobs has a natural delivery and easy going style. I learnt so much - however I will definitely listen again for the gems I missed.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Drop Dead Healthy?
AJ's account of the conversations with his grandfather, and also the triathlon event.
Which scene was your favorite?
I loved the account of the 'cave man' work out in Central Park, and the odd characters mentioned throughout the book.
