Historia
This lucid overview of the Buddhist path takes the perspective of the three "vehicles" of Tibetan Buddhism: the Hinayana, Mahayana, and Vajrayana. While these vehicles are usually presented as a historical development, they are here equated with the attitudes that individuals bring to their Buddhist practice. Basic to them all, however, is the need to understand our own immediate condition. The primary tool for achieving this is meditation, and The Essence of Buddhism serves as a handbook for the various meditative approaches of Buddhist practice.

Very worthwhile
Revisado: 07-17-22
This amazing teacher is definitely worth listening to or reading. His book “mind at ease“ is one of the best books and Buddhism I have ever read. This book can sometimes be a little tedious or hidden, if you’ve been practicing for a while, you will find it worthwhile if you stick with it until the end! Blessings and good luck!

LeGuin at her best

The story jumps through timet so the reader has to surmise where in the protagonist's life the narration is happening. However, this keeps the listener active. The ending is stunning.

Great concepts
Revisado: 02-03-21
The intro is awesome. The bits in between the main story are also wonderful. However, the main characters never really come alive.
The pacing is very slow. Not an exciting story but lots of great concepts.
This is more like a Silmarillian then The Lord of the Rings, though it tries to do a little bit of both.
Great attempt! Wish it was a true story.

A story for our times
Revisado: 08-25-20
An excellent mythological multilevel Story. It’s long, and sometimes there’s a bit too much detail from my taste. Sometimes it seems more like a detailed movie script. However, this is definitely worth listening to. Thanks Adrian.

So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Historia
A mesmerizing, moving, and elegantly written debut novel, The Language of Flowers beautifully weaves past and present, creating a vivid portrait of an unforgettable woman whose gift for flowers helps her change the lives of others even as she struggles to overcome her own troubled past. The Victorian language of flowers was used to convey romantic expressions: honeysuckle for devotion, asters for patience, and red roses for love. But for Victoria Jones, it's been more useful in communicating grief, mistrust, and solitude.

Touching and beautiful
Revisado: 10-07-19
A book more men should read. A book I never would have read if my girlfriend hadn’t asked me too. Fully realized characters written by someone who has a long history of experience with foster children. A book that asks the question: Can love overcome trauma? It’s far more complex than a simple yes or no. Also, heartbreaking and strangely inspiring...seriously considering getting involved in foster care

Historia
Bryan Stevenson was a young lawyer when he founded the Equal Justice Initiative, a legal practice dedicated to defending those most desperate and in need: the poor, the wrongly condemned, and women and children trapped in the farthest reaches of our criminal justice system. One of his first cases was that of Walter McMillian, a young man who was sentenced to die for a notorious murder he insisted he didn’t commit. The case drew Bryan into a tangle of conspiracy, political machination, and legal brinksmanship—and transformed his understanding of mercy and justice forever.

Full of suspenseful and heart pounding frustration

Required reading for nursing school, because it is amazing!!!
Make sure you have some punchable object near by so you can dish out your inevitable frustration at the injustices we continue to perpetuate.l. Yet, don’t lose hope because hopelessness is the enemy of justice.

No more suspense
Revisado: 05-05-17
Also this is not a mind blowing philosophically stimulating sci fi.
I loved the descriptive battle scenes in the first book. this one I find myself more interested in the politics then the action.
Finally, I am getting frustrated with how many characters survive chaotic battles. I like them all but more of them need to die to keep me believing in the intensity of the endless mirage of perilous situations.

still fun. a bit unbelievable how many of the characters survive. but thus isn't game of thrones.
As far as a future reality, however, the story arc fits right in line with all the best prophetic sci-fi.

A beautiful journey. Don't give up on it. It often seems like it is going to get boring, but just wait five minutes or have a glass of wine, it will soon pull you back in with awe inspiring force. Lastly, if all religions could adopt the perspectives illustrated in this epic, we would have no foolish fundamentalism.... yet extremely devoted worshippers....
