Hmmm...A little disappointing

I found some of the editing a little off and the subplot predictable. Like very predictable. SPOILERS BELOW

It was very many books ago that there was an FTA that was a "vampire" character (as a quirky character Lula and Stephanie pursue) so it is odd that Lulu says she has never seen a vampire below and it ends up being the big bad character. And, let's be honest, one of the male characters loves Stephanie for who she is and the other loves her for what he thinks she should be. So, I think she chose incorrectly. Like...no charactee growth choice. 🙄

Horrible narration

I like the content, but the narrator doesn't seem to breathe or pause between sentences or chapters. It is awful to listen to.

Absolutely great! Breene has quickly become my favorite author. Her characters arw always fun and really well developed and she has a great sense of humour. I can hardly wait for the next one! Eeeeks.

I want to love it more than I do

I keep listening and do generally enjoy the stories, but the forever ambling twists and turns just make it really hard to buy into it. The characters feel a bit flat and I think it is because there are too many and each somewhat undeveloped. The never ending list of enemies with no adequate resolution is a bit lacklustre. I also find the author's tendency to speak directly to the audience pulls me out of the story.

More "stop spending so much" rubbish

This book had a really great section for a hot minute on connecting your RSPs from your paycheque and directly offsetting your income tax that is deducted each pay. Otherwise? Let me save you the trouble. Young people today (I'm 44 and apparently no longer of an age that could use practical advice apparently) just don't save enough for their retirement because they prefer expensive cars, houses and clothes. They also don't understand compound interest. Also, just save more and do with less. What a novel idea. (Cue eye roll). So, if you are one of the people who is both responsible and self-determined enough at 20 or 25 to learn more about personal finance AND too impulsive and irresponsible to not buy a BMW instead of a Honda Civic, this book is for you.

Meh...Mostly just pornography.

There is maybe 1/3 of the story plot and characters. The rest is very raunchy sex scenes that go on and on and on. I love a good sex scene and usually love Breene's stories, but I could enjoy a little bit less raunch and a bit more story. The characters are pretty shallow also. In the midst of lusty demons they are supposed to be opposed to, it seems odd to me that the main characters wouldn't struggle with their own, more beastie, sides. It would have been nice for the human characters to be a little less filthy in bed (at least once a while). Sometimes I want a little romance and an after sex cuddle, you know?

Shockingly familiar

I am in awe at how much the main character's parent's house is EXACTLY like mine. It's nice to be able to have a book I can relate to at the just past 40s. The narrator talked to quick for me and I slowed it down a little. That made it much better for me.

Predictable and Dull

I was expecting the book to be much funnier than it was given other reviews. The humor just felt like it was trying too hard and, indeed, so did the whole “story”. There really wasn’t a story to be told. It read more like a diary or a monologue of events and the relationships between characters were unbelievable and contrived.
