Historia
Birmingham detectives Kerri Devlin and Luke Falco arrive at the scene of a double homicide to discover that nothing makes sense. A woman and her child are dead, and though the husband says he killed them, the evidence says otherwise. Why would a man confess to unspeakable murders he didn’t commit? What starts as an open-and-shut case explodes into a web of new leads. Devlin and Falco get to work tracking down every single one - including a disturbing connection between the murders and Falco’s dark past.

Good thriller and ending to series!
Revisado: 12-27-24
I enjoyed the story and how the story and series gets wrapped up. Love the characters of Devlin and Falco and all the minor characters as well. I loved the ending and did not see it coming!! Definitely worth a read or listen. That said, the beginning and end of the book were fantastic, but the middle dragged a bit and that is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Still a good book/ story and I was sad the series came to an end.

The book started a little slow and a there were lot of characters…but then it took off!! I loved the 2 main characters. Very likeable detectives and real heros. I am ready for book 2! Narrator was good but needed to change up voices.

Wow!! Sooo good!
Revisado: 05-12-24
I could not stop listening to this book!! If you love a thriller that isn’t predictable this is the book for you! Twists and turns you don’t see coming but they all make sense later without plot holes. I also loved the characters and was rooting for the “good” ones who were a little shady but that made them even more likeable. Read now!! You won’t regret it. Also there is strong language at times, but it’s appropriate for the story. And no gratuitous sex scenes. The romance was PG-13 and really well written too!!! Love the narrator- she did a great job on male voices.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

I absolutely loved this book. It’s funny, charming, sad, witty… all the feels. The story is great. Well written real characters. I loved this narrator too. She is the best I have heard on audible. I highly recommend this book. I cried toward the end, but such a warm and wonderful story. I’ll read again for sure!

Great book- don’t miss it!
Revisado: 01-09-23
The story is so good. I couldn’t stop listening. I really enjoyed this author- her writing is interesting, clever and descriptive. Will check out more of her books! I loved the characters in this book and the plot draws you in right away. It’s not just a thriller but a coming of age with spotlight on mental health issues. And the ending is excellent (no spoilers!) - it makes sense and is strong. I don’t like when authors leave a bunch of loose threads or when they leave out major details to have a big plot twist. That was not the case with this book!! I loved it! Highly recommend!! Narrator was good but did not wow me and in places it was hard to tell which character she reading and several characters sounded in the verge of tears even when that wasn’t the intent of the story.

Historia
For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

Excellent story!!
Revisado: 12-04-22
I loved this book. Yes, it starts out slow and takes time to build up the plot. The first section “the boys” is a lot of background information. I found it interesting but I admit was wondering when the action would begin. Keep reading because it picks up and you won’t want to put it down. I also went back and reread the beginning because it really helps you understand the characters. The characters and setting are so well described and no detail is missed. I came to appreciate the detail from the beginning as the story of the Rudy and Malco families unfolded. When you get to section 2 and especially 3, you won’t be able to put the book down. I will be thinking about this book for awhile. I also greatly enjoyed the narrator. He does a good job w character accents but his normal voice is perfect for the book as well. Loved it all and highly recommend!

Ted talks about his marriage that’s going stale and his wife, Miranda, who he’s sure is cheating on him. But their game turns a little darker when Ted jokes that he could kill Miranda....

Juicy thriller that keeps you reading and guessing!
Revisado: 08-26-21
I love a good mystery and thriller and especially one that doesn’t have far fetched story lines and characters. This book fit the bill! It was full of well written and developed characters who you wanted to like even though they were commuting crimes. And the characters I didn’t like were still well written. The story was exciting and kept me guessing. It had twists but not ones that didn’t make sense with the story. Although I feel the back and forth between perspectives is overdone lately, especially with thrillers, this author did it correctly. There was a bit of gratuitous sex and language - some fitting for the characters but most not at all necessary- otherwise the book was well written. And I thought the ending was perfect! Not sure what some people read or if they just didn’t get it, but it wraps it all up nicely. Definitely a must listen or read! I didn’t care for the narrator that voiced Miranda- she sounded breathy and like she was trying to hard to be sexy but wasn’t. Maybe it was also because I didn’t like her character. She had no redeeming value. The other narrators were great!! Especially Lily! Loved her character and the back story on her. Like I said most of them are doing bad things, you still root for Lily. Especially when she is a child. And Ted too. I liked how he was faced with such internal conflict - it was definitely relatable. Ok stop reading this and go listen to the book!

Revisado: 05-30-19
Even as an adult, I loved the twilight series so was excited to see another book by Meyer. This book - very different from that series - was full of excitement, suspense and romance. I loved the different characters and the storyline made it hard to put down. Also loved the dogs roles in the story. Two thumbs up! I enjoyed listening to it on audible. The narrator did a wonderful job with the different voices of the characters, as well as a nice soothing voice for the narration. I highly recommend this book!
