incredible read

Wow. Wow, wow, wow, wow. WOW.
This books tackles a lot but does so in a heartaching and beautiful way. The voices used to tell each story and to draw so much history and experience through decades were powerful. I am astonished by the editing and how this was pieced together and flows.

I really enjoyed this story, considering the human aspect of Jesus. That being said, this story isn't about him, it's about Ana who is speculated as his wife. This is a fascinating exploration of a woman's life at this time. Ana is strong, educated, and stands strong against the existence others may compell her to.
This book also plays with the construct of the historical aspect of Jesus's story not the religious context especially during a period of time that are more or less unknown in his history.
A well written and beautiful read.

Enjoyable listen with some facts incorrect

Not what I expected..

"Something is very wrong, Gladwell argues, with the tools and strategies we use to make sense of people we don't know. And because we don't know how to talk to strangers, we are inviting conflict and misunderstanding in ways that have a profound effect on our lives and our world."
I would agree with this assumption but I felt this was all tied together poorly and didn't fully add up to what he was trying to say. He makes some fair points but I don't see that all of the examples and stories he uses to support his conclusion fit and the audiobook version uses a lot of sound clips and recreations that seem unnecessary and could be triggering to many individuals.
This book didn't foster any new understanding or spark any kind of thought process for me. It didn't meet the expectations I had.

I couldn't even get past chapter one. Yikes. If it improved from there, I'd be surprised. The format wasnt great so you couldn't get a good enough grip on where or who they were and I found some of the language used laughable.

This story was ASTOUNDING. There were several times I had to go back and listen to parts again to fully comprehend the events or conversations that occurred. Westover tells her story in a very clear voice. My head and heart are reeling from learning what she overcame and the years of growth and personal reflection she had to commit to in order to process the psychological abuse that she faced. I am inspired by her determination and accomplishments.
